Face it, man. You are! And there’s nothing you can do about it!

It’s tempting to get up and go to a bar. I’ll get shit-faced and start systematically screwing my way through Nolan U.

And every girl will leave me unsatisfied. I know they will.

Because I had red, saucy hotness, and she was perfect.

A perfect little liar.

Snapping my eyes shut, I clench my teeth as the song comes to an end, and that’s when I hear the voices outside my door.

“Talk to him!” That’s Mikayla.

“He’ll talk when he’s ready.” And Ethan.

“He’s listening to pop music from the ’90s! Believe me, he’s ready!”

“She’s right, man,” Asher agrees. “Old-school pop? We’ve got something to be seriously worried about right now.”

I roll my eyes, tempted to turn up the music even louder as the song starts up again, but then the door swings open as they break the cardinal rule and don’t fucking knock!

“Get out,” I growl, throwing my pillow at them.

Liam snatches it before it hits Rachel in the face, giving me a dirty look as he throws it on the floor.

Sweet Rachel gives me a sad smile, and my anger deflates.

She always has that effect on me. She’s so gentle, it’s impossible to be mad around her.

With a heavy sigh, I roll onto my side so I don’t have to look at any of them.

“I can’t handle this,” Asher mutters, snatching my phone and killing the music. “I get that you’re going through some shit right now, but you don’t have to torture all of us.”

I glare at him, raising my middle finger with a snarl.

He goes to grab it, and I turn my hand into a fist and punch out at him.

“Really? It’s like that?” He slaps my fist away.

“I said get out!” I roar and see Rachel flinch out of the corner of my eye. That little move makes me feel like shit, and I slump onto my pillow with a groan. “Please, just go away.”

“We’re not going anywhere.” The bottom of my bed shifts, and Mick takes a seat by my feet. Her little fingers rest on my ankle. “At first we thought it was the hockey game.”

“And then we thought it was those assy rumors about it being all your fault.” Asher folds his arms, still staring down at me.

“But now all the music is making us think that you’re dealing with some kind of romantic thing. Did you and Caroline break up or something?” Ethan takes a seat beside Mick, and I try to kick him off the bed.

The asshole doesn’t budge, giving my knee a hard horse bite in retaliation.

I flail, nearly kicking Mick in the face.

“Hey!” Ethan grabs my foot, his look lethal as he moves in to protect his girl. “Watch it.”

“I didn’t mean to,” I mutter.

“You didn’t, actually, so I don’t have to kick you in the balls,” Mick chirps, giving me a playful smile. “However, I might have to slap you in the face if you continue to drown the airwaves with ’90s pop songs and mope in your room like a smelly sloth. Seriously, dude, this is so not you. What the hell is going on?”

I sit up, resting back against my pillows and mussing my hair. “You assholes aren’t going to leave until I tell you, are you?”
