“Wanna spend the night?”

CHAPTER 31

CAROLINE

I gape at him, because that seems to be all I’m capable of doing right now.

Casey Pierce just asked me to stay over.

This is huge.

He stares back at me, his wide-eyed expression telling me he can barely believe it himself.

“Are you sure?” I don’t really want to give him an out, but it’d be worse if I didn’t and then he regretted this, right?

“Yeah, come on.” He places me on the floor before taking my hand and leading me out of the room. “Night, guys!”

There are a few moans and groans as we leave, and by the sounds of it, the game will wrap up now too.

Diverting past the kitchen counter, Casey flips open the pizza box.

“Anyone want the last three slices? No takers? Okay, it’s ours.” He didn’t even pause to let anyone respond, and I laugh as he grabs the box and leads me upstairs.

As soon as the door clicks shut behind him, he offers me a slice of pizza. I check the topping and notice it’s only cheese, so I take a slice and munch it down. After all that dancing, I’m starving. And I’m not the only one. Casey inhales the pizza like it’s his first meal all day.

I’m only halfway through my slice by the time he’s finished his two, and I let him have the rest of mine.

“Sure?”

“Yeah.” I lick the grease off my fingers and look around his room while he finishes eating.

It’s about as chaotic and messy as mine, which gives me this sense of comfort that I can’t even explain. It feels lived-in and homey. There’s a slight smell of sweat, but lingering over that is this musky man-smell and hints of cologne that curl the tendrils of desire in my belly. I may not have felt like sex before, but I can feel the urge building within me again.

I’ll put it down to all the laughter and fun. The way Casey took my mood and turned it upside down. After a night of basically no sleep and a day of being haunted by a secret I don’t want to share, I was stretched thin. But then he saw me, took me away, and distracted me.

And now he wants me to stay.

The whole night!

Pulling my phone out, I quickly text Leilani, letting her know I won’t be coming back to the dorm.

Within seconds she sends me her reply.

Lei-Lei: Have you told him yet?

I glare at my screen, regret burning my insides to ash. She’s right, of course, but if I tell him now I won’t be staying the night anymore, and this is too epic. Yes, I need to tell him… but can’t I just enjoy this night first? It might be my last.

Dumping my phone on his desk, I try to shut down the doubts rattling through me.

“Everything cool?”

“Yeah.” I look away to hide my wince. “I was just letting Lani know I won’t be home tonight.” I glance over my shoulder at him. “You sure you’re sure?”

“Yes.” He laughs out the word before shoving the last of my pizza slice in his mouth.

I tap my phone and decide I’ll text her back later. I can’t let her kill this moment for me. I just want to forget what I did and focus on the fact that I’m standing in Casey’s bedroom.

I love this guy.
