“That’s it,” Jake shook his head. “You are going to march your cute little behind into the house. While you are in the shower, Max can make you something to eat. You are going to pull out the sexiest dress you have in your closet. We are going out tonight. Dancing and drinking. If Army Ken wants to toy with you, we will show him.”

Angelina smiled guiltily. She should have called them sooner. Nothing over the past week had soothed her more than a few minutes with Jake and Max.

“By the looks, you have been here a while,” Jake waved his hands around her messy desk.

“It is amazing what you can do when you don’t sleep.”

“Angelina,” Max growled.

“Hold it together, love,” Jake linked his arm with Max’s. “We have her now. She will take care of herself, or I will call my mother.”

“Wow,” Angelina scoffed. “Nothing like pulling out the big guns.”

“Shower.”

“I’m going,” she sassed with a smile.

After a quick save, she switched off her computer. Max shut the lights off as Jake ushered her out the door. An hour later, she sat in the back seat of Max’s truck dressed in a fabric swatch marketed as a dress. She bought it online. The picture made it seem like it covered more than it did. Angelina couldn’t imagine how much skin would be on display if she were taller. It fit like a deep purple second skin, stopping just below the curve of her ass. The push-up bra was pushing for all it was worth to give her cleavage. The sides of the dress were mesh that somehow sparkled. Angelina topped it all off with her favorite heeled sandals that laced up her leg.

“Where are we going?”

“We are going to the club Max’s friend owns.”

“Is it a gay club?” Angelina hoped there was one in the city she didn’t know about.

“Sorry, sweetness. We are too far away from civilization to get one of those.”

“No one will bother you,” Max assured her.

“You are with us. No one bothers us.”

Angelina sat in silence while Jake and Max carried on a conversation. They tried to include her, but she kept losing track of what they said. Her mind was overrun. Her thoughts were rapidly overtaking her ability to focus.

“Let’s go,” Jake took her hand.

She looked up to realize they were at the club. Max was letting them off at the door. Following Jake past the long line and through security, she was shocked at what awaited them inside. Enormous gleaming mahogany bar tops wrapped around each side of the open room. There were a few tables next to each one. In the middle was a dance floor bigger than her entire house. The place was already packed.

Jake pointed to the VIP section. Without letting go of her hand, he led Angelina up the stairs. It was slightly quieter on the second floor. The view out over all the people was amazing.

“How did we get in so easily?”

“I’m the owner’s legal counsel,” Jake grinned.

A waitress appeared out of nowhere to take their drink orders. The poor woman tried unsuccessfully to get Jake’s attention. She was in for a surprise if she thought she would get Jake’s eyes on her.

“I want to be you when I grow up,” she teased Jake.

“Doesn’t everyone,” he laughed.

Max sauntered up the stairs with another man by his side.

“What beauty have you brought me tonight?” He asked Jake as his eyes raked over Angelina.

The man’s eyes snapped to her face when Max cleared his throat.

“This is Angelina Davis. Angelina, this is Rocko, the owner of the club,” Jake introduced them.

Rocko was tall, but he wasn’t Ben tall. He was handsome, but he wasn’t Ben handsome. Angelina shook her head. She had to shut this line of thinking down. She couldn’t go around comparing every man she met to Army Ken.
