Rose snuggled into him, relishing the feel of his arms around her. “I knew you would come for me. I love you so much. I forgive you. Please take me home.”

“Love doesn’t even come close to what I feel for you. If something happened to you-”

“Nothing happened,” Rose rubbed her cheek against his chest. “The bruise will fade in a few weeks. I’ll be fine.”

“You are my world, Petal. I was put on this earth to be by your side.”

“No more secrets.”

“Whatever you want to know, my precious Petal. I can’t promise to be good at sharing, but I will learn.”

“That is all I can ask. I don’t want to be without you.”

“Never again.”

“Take me home. I want to go to bed with my husband,” Rose whispered in his ear before nipping it.

“Only after Vulture looks you over.” Warren’s heart clenched when she stood. She was too far away from him. Shooting to his feet, he ushered her over to the ladder. “You are getting a tracker on every damn thing you own,” he informed her as he helped his wife over the ledge and onto the ladder.

“Love you too,” Rose winked at him. “Keep in mind. What I get, you get too.”

Chapter 20

“Rosey, you scare me like that again I am going to lock you in my room and never let you out.”

“Ladybug,” Rose sighed as she stepped off the last rung onto the ground. “If you tried to lock me anywhere, I would tie you to the bed with promises of the amazing things I can do with my mouth and then climb out the window.”

“You okay?”

“I’ll mend. Where is Birdy? Why are they leaving?” Rose motioned to the members heading out. “There are more bad guys on their way back. I heard the big guy order them back here.”

“He and Tank are taking Franny back to the clubhouse to patch her wound. The others will surprise the rest of the crew that took you.”

Warren glared at him as he stepped off the ladder. Once again, Roach was too close to his wife. The asshole was never going to learn with words.

“Petal,” he murmured, pulling her back tight to his chest. “I want you to go sit in the truck in the air conditioning. Watch my sniper rifle on the front seat.”

“You shot the big guy.”

“Wounded him. I wanted to take my time with him for putting his hands on you.”

“Morally grey all the way,” she winked and kissed him quickly.

“Lock the doors, baby,” he whispered so no one else would hear. His gut told him something was off. “There is a pistol in a safe under the console. Your fingerprint will open it. Get it out. Keep it on you.”

Rose nodded. “Are you coming?”

“I’m going to help them clean up. Don’t let anyone in. Something isn’t right.”

“Be careful.”

“Always, Petal. Always.”

Warren nipped her bottom lip and licked away the sting. His lips caressed hers gently, and she melted against him. Pulling away took a herculean effort, but he couldn’t ignore his gut. The danger was closer than he liked.

“Drink the water that is in the cup holder. I want it gone by the time I get there.”

“Bossy,” she sassed.
