My eyebrows arch at his meaning and I step into the shower, turning the water on hot, standing out of the spray until it warms.

Through the glass door I watch Terror, who is watching me, start to move toward me and opens the door, slipping his way into the shower.

My eyes are on what I just had in my mouth, and it shocks me that I managed to even fit him in.

I still think of the way he fell apart because of me, the power I felt. The water is warm now, and he takes my hand, pulling me into the warm spray.

I sigh, letting my hair hang back into the water. Terrors runs his hands along my neck, moving my hair back to massage my shoulders.

My whole body warms. “Don’t go to work. Spend the day in bed so I can ravish you,” he growls in my ear softly, sending shivers down my body.

I clench with need. “It’s so tempting,” I whisper back, my eyes still closed, enjoying the way his fingers are running along my scalp.

I hear a snap of a bottle, and my eyes flutter open to see him pouring shampoo into his hand, then running it through my strands washing my hair for me.

“Let me take care of you, stand still.”

I do as he asks, not moving and letting him wash my hair, then doing the conditioner and finally washing every part of my body, almost lulling me back to sleep at the gentleness.

I never dreamed that I would meet someone, and feel this level of comfort. Most of all, having someone taking care of me like this.

He presses his lips to my forehead, and I open my eyes, smiling. “You are precious, my darlin.”

I split the short distance between us and rest my head on his chest, just taking in the moment before I have to tackle the day.

I hope that Seth isn’t going to be poking around, that is the last thing that we need.

chapter seven

Meghan

It’s past lunchtime and I’ve been waiting for Naomi to come in. Heck, Royal isn’t even here yet and they’re raining on my parade.

I, of course, had to let Marie in on the plan. I swore the world stopped the very second I gave her the idea and she ran with it.

Every time the door opened, her head was spinning around like in the movie The Exorcist. I swear you can feel the excitement radiating off her. She is adorable.

Dante just shakes his head smiling, thinking it’s cute. Terror pretends he doesn’t give a shit but he’s sitting in the booth pretending to look at his phone, but we all know that he is just waiting to eavesdrop.

Right when I started to give up hope, Naomi walks inside with her young daughter. She’s clumsy, almost tripping over her own feet. “Hi.” I wave to her, and she smiles back at me.

Then I hear a bike pulling into the parking lot. Terror sits up and I try not to smile because we all jumped to attention.

I swear I’m more nervous than she would be if she had known.

For the last three months I have seen her come in every day exhausted, but with a smile on her face.

Her daughter waves at me and I wave back. “Want a booster seat today?”

“Please,” she says, and I slide it in the booth and then she gets in beside it.

“How is this precious angel today?” I ask, running my hand down her beautiful little blonde ringlets. She has the bluest little eyes with a smattering of freckles on her nose just like her mom.

“Can you get me a huge cheeseburger?” she asks.

Today, Naomi is wearing her scrubs. She is a pharmacy technician right across the street, and right down the block from that is the daycare where her daughter stays at during the day.

I write it down and I look to her daughter. “You know I never did ask her name,” I say to Naomi, and she laughs. “Her name is Everleigh.”
