“Mack, what are you doing?” I heard my man yell as he ran out of the clubhouse. “Let her in, asshole.”

“Yeah, let me in, asshole,” I mocked the jerk who was trying to keep me away from Tripp.

“Your days are numbered, bitch,” he said to me as I pulled through the gate a little too early and almost clipped him. One of these days, I might be tempted to take it further.

When I parked, Tripp was there waiting to open my door like a gentleman. He might have grown up around this hellhole, but I knew he didn’t belong here anymore than I did. That was something that would change the minute I managed to get pregnant.

Anna and I had all summer to cook up just how and when to get myself knocked up, so that Tripp would no longer have a choice when it came to the club or me. He would have to choose me and his baby. I smirked at the thought as Tripp offered his hand to help me out of the car.

“I’ve missed you soooo much and that asshole was trying to keep me from you,” I declared with a hurt tone as I pouted.

“Can we not start off with that shit?” Tripp asked, shocking me. Normally, when I complained and pouted about his friend being mean, he consoled me. I narrowed my eyes on him.

“So, since I’ve been away you’re suddenly okay with your friends talking shit about me and trying to keep us apart?”

“You’re making this…” Tripp cut himself off and grabbed hold of my arm, right at the crook of my elbow. “Let’s go over here and talk.” He pulled me to a dark corner behind the garage and sat me down on a bench that was obviously there for smokers to use considering how many cigarette butts littered the ground around it. I scrunched my nose up.

“You brought me to everyone’s ashtray for our reunion? Nice, Tripp. I thought maybe you would grow up some while I was away.”

“Funny, I thought the same of you. I guess we’re both disappointed instead.”

“What in the hell is that supposed to mean?”

“We have cameras on the gate, June.” I shrugged because that didn’t mean anything to me. “They have audio, so we can hear what’s said out there.”

The blood rushed from my face straight to the wounds those butterflies had been carving into my belly. “I was sitting in the office with the club’s president when you called his prospect a ‘dirty fucking biker piece of shit.’”

Oh no! I didn’t know he could hear me.

“If Mack was already a club brother, you never would have made it through those gates ever again. That doesn’t matter though, because you just pissed off my club president and told everyone what you think of us. And ‘Us’ includes me, June. You think I’m a dirty fucking biker piece of shit?”

“No. It’s just that Mack gets under my skin. He’s never liked me, you know that. Baby, I didn’t mean it he just made me angry.”

“Well, I’m about to make you angrier because I have something to tell you that you aren’t going to like.”

“W-what is it?”

“While you were gone, I fucked up.”

“Tell me you didn’t sleep with one of those whores your club keeps around!” I demanded.

“No, not them,” he said so quietly that I almost missed hearing him.

“Not them?” I asked with my heart in my throat.

“I went to a party.”

“I thought you guys weren’t allowed to party here until you became a member.”

“It was out by Devil’s Branch on Tommy Baynard’s property.”

“Ew, why would you go there? And to one of Tommy’s gross field parties at that.” Tripp cocked his head to the side and really seemed to be taking in everything about me as he contemplated the question.

"We have been to one before,” he reminded me.

“Yeah, and it was a muddy mess and I told you we’d never go back because of it.”

“I thought you were joking about that, since your car got dirty, but that’s not the point here, June.”
