…but isn’t it too late? I pushed Theo away. He’s probably over me by now.

I swallow hard, regret thrumming in my chest. If only I could go back in time and do things differently. I know that’s impossible, but?—

Just then, I hear something through the drumming of the rain. It sounds like someone calling my name. I’m sure I’m just imagining it, but…no, there it is again.

I stand up and walk over to the window, peering out the rain-soaked pane down at the courtyard below.

Oh my God. Theo is here. He’shere.

“Lindsey?” he yells again, looking desperately around at all the apartments surrounding him.

Butterflies flutter in my stomach as I shove open my window and lean out. “Theo!”

He spots me, breaks into a huge grin, and waves. “Hey!”

“Stay right there!” I call out. “I’ll be down in two seconds!”

I shove my window closed, hastily put on my shoes, and rush out the door. I take the stairs down to the ground floor as quickly as I can, and when I burst out of the building into the courtyard, the sight of Theo makes my heart swell.

I laugh as I run up to him and fly into his arms. He’s completely soaked, his clothes and his hair saturated with rain, but I don’t care one bit.

“What are you doing here?” I ask, pulling back to look up at his beautiful face.

He laughs. “What do you mean? I’m here to see you.”

“I know, but…as a friend, or…?”

His eyes shine at me. “I’m never just going to like you as a friend, Lindsey.”

Hope surges through me. I grab his hand and start pulling him toward the building. “Let’s talk more inside. It’s pouring out here.”

“Yeah, I noticed. Is italwaysthis rainy here?”

As soon as I get him into my apartment, I grab some towels for Theo and he dries himself off as much as he can while we talk.

“I couldn’t stop thinking about you, you know?” he says, drying off his arms. “But I didn’t have your number or anything. All I knew was the town you lived in. So I flew up here and started looking for you.”

“You’ve just been walking around Peach Ridge yelling my name?”

“Kind of embarrassing, huh?” he says, grinning.

“No, it’s sweet.” I take the wet towel from him and hand him another. As he reaches for it, his hand touches mine, and he doesn’t move it away. I look up at him, my heart pounding. “I’m so glad you’re here, Theo. I haven’t been able to stop thinking about you, either.”

“As a friend?” he asks cautiously.

“No. Not just as a friend.” I chew on my lip nervously. “I know I was the one who said that long-distance dating wouldn’t work, but now I know I was too quick to dismiss it. I’m still worried it’s going to be hard, but I’m up for giving it a shot if you are.”

“Are you kidding? Of course I am.” Theo can hardly contain his grin. He glances down and sucks in a breath. “Shoot, I’m dripping all over your floor.”

“It’s okay.” I reach out and tug at his soaked shirt. “But maybe you should take this off.”

Together, we peel off his wet clothes, and then mine. Then Theo lifts me up in a bridal carry and brings me into my bedroom, his ridiculously strong arms holding me with protective warmth. After he lays me down on my bed, he bends down and kisses the inside of my thigh.

“Is this okay?” he asks, starting to kiss higher.

“Yes,” I say softly, no longer plagued by the self-consciousness I felt before. I let my thighs spread open wider as Theo kisses his way higher and higher. As the rain outside drums against my bedroom window, Theo’s lips brush over my clit. I gasp as he kisses me there, my pussy already aching.

And then he’s licking me, ravishing me, happily and hungrily eating me out. It feels so good that I come twice, one huge tidal wave of pleasure quickly followed by another. Even after that, Theo is still at it, his tongue buried in my pussy as he pins my thighs up against my tits.
