As everyone starts to dig in, I reach under my chair and pull the gift out of my purse. I hold it in my lap so it’s hidden by the table.

“Okay, so I know this might be…” I shift in my seat. “Silly. But I just wanted to give you something to welcome you to Minnesota.”

Natalie sits up straighter, her brows rising on her pretty face. “You got me a gift?”

I nod.

Then I hand her the stuffed Sleet mascot.

A fuzzy little Blizz.

Natalie’s eyes widen.

And Katelyn dissolves into laughter.

I look between them. “What?”

Chapter 96

Natalie

My faceliterally bursts into flames as I take the Blizz stuffie from Izzy’s hands.

Okay, not literally, but it might as well, because the way Katelyn is laughing means she knows.

Likeshe knows.

“I’m sorry,” Katelyn says. But she’s still laughing, so it’s kind of hard to understand her.

“What’s so funny?” Izzy furrows her brow.

I instantly feel bad for our reactions to her gift. She clearly didn’t buy this as a joke but as a nice gesture.

I clear my throat. “Thanks, uh, thank you. This is really nice.”

“You’re welcome.” Izzy is still looking at Katelyn, who is slowly composing herself. “What am I missing?”

I look at Katelyn, but she’s wiping tears off her cheeks and not making eye contact with me.

Then I glance at Meghan and Steph, who are both watching us like they also have no idea what’s going on.

“I don’t get what’s so funny,” Steph says. “He’s so cute and furry.”

Katelyn loses it again.

And… I start to laugh.

Because,oh my god, she knows.

I lift Blizz and press my face into his belly as I try not to choke on my own laughter.

It’s all just so ridiculous.

I shake my head at myself, even as I ready to lower the yeti.

You make friends by sharing, right?
