Broadie removes his suit jacket. It’s a stone-colored Brioni linen that screams of money. Normally, I’d find pretension a turn-off. However, he wears it well. The clothes look natural on him. He’s never flaunted his wealth. I’m not sure his patients have any idea how rich he is.

Settling in for our trip, Broadie rests his hand on my thigh as we take off. “Bring some good books, babe?”

“Yes.” I clap. “I have five that I’ve been waiting for the right moment to read.”

“Five?”

“I read fast.”

“You better. Because unless we are acting out some of the spicy scenes in your books, you better make room for me.”

I giggle. “Oh, how the tables have turned.”

“I’ll get the car and will be back shortly, Dr. Weston,” Porter advises before heading for the building.

I shield my eyes as I look up at the gorgeous sky. There are a few clouds dancing about the top of the Blue Mountains in the distance. Broadie slides his arm around my waist.

“Stick with me, Pops. I don’t want you falling into the wrong man’s arms.”

I snicker at the memory of that day.

“Here we go,” Broadie advises as Porter pulls up beside us. He ushers me inside as Porter places our bags in the trunk. He seems to take longer than necessary speaking to Porter at the back of the vehicle before opening the opposite door and joining me.

“Everything okay?”

“Yes. Just wanted to verify he and Stu had everything covered.”

“Oh, Stu. He’s so stealthy. I tend to forget he’s around most of the time.”

Broadie smiles. “Yes. That’s because he’s good at what he does.” He lifts my hand to his mouth.

“So where are we going that we needed to be all dressed up.”

He adjusts himself in his seat. “I wanted to stop by Dunn’s River Falls. I never got to see it on the last trip. It’s on the way.”

I look down at my outfit. “Wouldn’t that be a place to wear bathing suits under your clothes? I thought people formed a human chain and climbed the rocks at the falls.”

“They do. We can always come back if that’s what you want to do. But I hired a photographer. I wanted to start our trip off right. We don’t have any pictures of us together.”

I laugh. “Um,youmight not. But I bet if you asked Lauren, she has about one hundred of them on her phone.” She and Lilly spent Christmas Eve with us before heading to their mother’s home. “I think she spent the entire morning photographing everything.”

Broadie laughs. “She takes pics for social media. I hate that she puts so much of her private life out there. But she knows full well she isn’t allowed to post any of me without clearing it with me first.”

“Such a party pooper.”

We travel along, taking in the sights. The Sangster Airport is a bit closer than the Normal Manley airport in Kingston where I flew in the last time. Hopefully, we’ll arrive to the fun part of the trip that much sooner. Not that flying in a private jet isn’t fun. But the hassle of traveling to and from, checking bags, and clearing customs and security take time away from the good stuff.

About an hour later, I look up from my book to see Porter turning into the Dunn’s River Falls entrance. Initially, it has the feel of a typical amusement park, but as you meander the grounds, there’s a blend of both modern facilities and rustic charm. Looking at my watch, I notice it’s almost midday. Yet, there’s virtually no one here. I know it’s an off time of year, with school in session, yet the place is practically empty.

“Are they open today?”

“Just for us,” Broadie says as we walk hand in hand casually down the path.

“Are they only open on the weekends during the off-season?”

“No.”
