“Of course not. The last thing I want is gawkers standing around gossiping about the broken Pierce legacy.”

“I thought you didn’t care about what people said about you.”

“I don’t. My grandfather is gone, and it all ends with him. People say whatever the hell they want to say, but I don’t want their vile words to catch up to my siblings. They have moved on.”

Now, he could too.

No wonder he got along so well with Lucian. They were the eldest children of abusive tyrants. Both tried to take the brunt of the attention whenever possible so the younger siblings wouldn’t suffer.

“Then it’s settled. You’re joining me for dinner tonight.” I moved past him, expecting him to follow me.

“I am?” He caught my upper arm, stopping me.

“Yes. You’ll have rousing company and meet the rest of my clan.”

A crease formed between his brows. “You’re taking me to a family dinner?”

I nodded. No matter what Damon believed, he needed people around him, something to take his mind off his current situation.

Even if the Oliana and Karina invasion had annoyed me to no end at the time, it was the exact reset my mind craved.

Now, it was Damon’s turn. Being with him showed me he rarely allowed anyone past his walls. Only two people ever managed it: Lucian and me. It’s a good thing my plan involved both of us.

Suspicion lit his dark green irises. “Let me guess. It will be at your parent’s house.”

“Where else would we have family dinners? Most of my siblings are in town. This means my parental units will pretend to be on their best behavior. Which is always entertaining. You can even spend the night with me in my old room, and I can scandalize them with my sinful ways.”

The energy immediately shifted between us, even though I hadn’t meant to say the last part as it had come out.

My thoughts were to show him the room where I’d spent my teenage years and maybe have an honest conversation without the sexual trappings that seemed to get in the way whenever we were within the vicinity of the other.

Well, I screwed that up.

“I thought you said this isn’t a reconciliation.” Damon’s fingers flexed against my skin.

Licking my parched lips, I watched his gaze flick to my mouth and then back to my eyes before I said in a much too husky voice, “I did, didn’t I?”

“You confuse the hell out of me.” He shook his head, released his grip on my arm, and threaded his fingers with mine.

I couldn’t help but smile at that. “Welcome to my world, Mr. Pierce.”

As we walked toward his car, he said, “Why do I get the feeling you planned to steamroll me into this from the beginning?”

“That’s because you are very suspicious.”

“It’s because I’m right. Topping from the bottom, Sophia?”

I shrugged. “You allowed it, so I still won.”

When we stopped in front of the passenger side of his car, instead of opening the door, he caged me with his arms and leaned down.

My breath grew unsteady, and arousal pooled between my legs. This was so fucked up. This man had me turned on in the middle of a cemetery following his grandfather’s funeral.

“For this infraction, your Dom would punish you. Want to know what he’d do?”

I could only nod as my heart thundered in my chest, and the intensity of his presence rushed over me.

“After this dinner, he’ll take you to that childhood bedroom, strip you naked, tan your beautiful ass red until you’re begging to come. Then he will tie you to your bed, fuck you with his mouth and cock, making you come so many times that you can’t think straight. However…” He paused, shifting his head to the other side of my face. “The punishment is that you’ll have to stay quiet because your family is near and could hear what is happening. You don’t want your brothers to know how you like it when your Dom spanks you, ties you up, or bites you. And you definitely don’t want them to know you enjoy deep throating your Dom’s cock so much that you have to slide your fingers between your legs to give yourself relief.”
