“What you are doing is cruel.” I wasn’t sure if my words begged him to go through with it or asked him to stop speaking.

“I’m not your Dom. You made that clear. It’s only kinky sex. Isn’t that what you said? I’m only telling you to imagine you with your Dom and a punishment of hot, dirty pleasure, all while you have to stay as quiet as possible.”

He stepped back, immediately my legs wobbled, and I steadied myself by taking hold of his forearm.

He’d seduced me with words, with images of everything he’d done to me, could do to me. I ached for him, my skin burned, and I could barely breathe for wanting him.

That was when I heard his shallow exhalations. Lifting my gaze to his, molten lust stared at me.

“I got carried away.”

“Most definitely.” I dropped my head to his chest. “We need to go.”

He cupped my neck under the hair at the back of my neck. “We do.”

“Sex isn’t our problem.”

“I know. The crux of everything is that you don’t trust me.”

“How can I trust you if I only know the parts you show me?”

“Today should show you I hide things for a reason.”

“I want it all. I deserve it all. I won’t let anyone make my choices for me again.”

Around six thirty in the evening, Damon and I arrived in Bishop’s Landing. In less than fifteen minutes, we’d reach my parent’s house right before the kids went to bed and smack dab in the epicenter of the chaos I’d promised Damon.

The Morelli family was what happened when all the predators in a zoo were released from their cages. Some part of me worried he would run the moment he experienced the crazy that was my family. The other part of me feared he would fit right in.

Either way, I’d find out soon enough.

At least, our ride here had settled into a familiar, comfortable space where neither of us needed to speak.

Only with him could I ever fill the time with nothingness. The arousal from before we left continued to hum between us, but it wasn’t the essence of our time together.

I wouldn’t lie to myself and say I didn’t miss being with him like this, but I wanted more. I deserved more.

These weeks apart showed me we couldn’t have a relationship unless he allowed me in.

“Who’s going to be here tonight?” Damon asked as he neared my family property.

“Lucian and Elaine, Finn and Eva, Leo and Haley. And their kids, of course. Lizzy said something about trying to come home.”

“Is she having problems at school?” The concern in his voice had me smiling.

Somehow, Lizzy was a soft spot for him. The baby of our family had a way of getting people to care about her. And since Damon had rescued Lizzy and me after our failed vigilante mob hit, it made sense that he’d want to protect her.

I shrugged. “No clue. She just said she needed a break. I don’t question things. If you see her, you can ask.”

“What about Daphne, Tiernan, and Carter?”

The mere fact he remembered them meant more to me than he realized. There were a lot of Morelli siblings. Even more cousins. Most people lost count of everyone in the family.

Not Damon. He paid attention to everything.

If only he would just let me into his life.
