“Daphne and Emerson are in Europe on an antiquities hunt. Tiernan is working on a charity project with Bianca, and Carter is somewhere tropical. I’m not sure exactly what he’s doing.” I thought for a second, trying to remember the last update Eva had given me. “Either he’s on a mission trip or vacation. All I know is that he left with his partners almost immediately after Eva’s wedding.”

“I doubt many people have seen all of you in one place. I think the immediate family took up a quarter of the church.”

“Well, not that much, but close.” I pointed to a long drive leading to the rear of the estate. “Take that way. I hate going through the front of the house.”

Once we parked, I guided Damon through the garden house and into the hallway near the children’s playrooms. The sounds of my young nieces and nephews chattering and running around reached us the second we turned the corner. Added to it was the cry of a baby.

I started laughing, seeing the panicked expression on Damon’s face. He looked ready to turn and run out the door.

It was time to remind him of his ulterior motives from a few weeks ago.

“This”—I pointed to my niece and nephew, who pretended to duel with foam swords—“is what happens when a sperm meets the egg.”

The scowl he shot me had me laughing harder. “Why are you giving me a biology lesson?”

“Weren’t you on a mission to impregnate me during that visit to my studio not long ago? I only wanted to remind you that if you were successful, this would result from the endeavor.”

“I would have had nine months to get used to the idea.” He gripped the back of his neck.

I patted his shoulder. “Keep telling yourself that. Come on. Let’s go into the main part of the house. I probably should have brought you through the front entrance instead of the back. The kids’ side of the house always scares the hell out of people.”

“I’m not scared.”

“Okay, I believe you.” I rolled my eyes. “Lucian hates coming to this part of the house. He avoids it at all costs.”

“But aren’t half of them his?”

“Yep. He says his children turn into Satan’s henchmen when they are with their cousins.” I tucked my arm into his.

“Let me guess. They’re your henchmen.”

“It depends on the day. Sometimes, they’re mine. Other times, they belong to Lizzy. The kids love us since we aren’t their parents and don’t have to discipline them.”

“Sophia Morelli, you’re a menace.”

“Still want to procreate with me? This could be your future.”

He shot me a pointed glare. “My answer is going to stay yes. I want you. Having a child is the benefit.”

“The night is still young. You haven’t sat with Bryant and Sarah Morelli at a dinner table.”

“I won’t change my mind.”

“That’s good to know. Although we both know this isn’t about changing your mind but mine.”

“You will.”

“Don’t get ahead of yourself. I make no promises.”

“Eventually. Even if it takes years, you will.”

“You have the stamina to wait that long?”

“You’re well aware of my stamina.”

“What makes you so sure? Don’t forget, I have stipulations.”

“I could never forget. And to answer your question. There is one very good reason you will change your mind about us.”
