Eva smirked, and I shook my head. “Only you and Elaine can order him about, and he doesn’t threaten to kill you.”

“Don’t forget Sophia. She’d pull a gun on him before he realized what happened. Besides, Lucian knows better if he wants me to feed him.”

Her observation about Sophia reminded me of the many times she took none of my crap and gave me whenever I annoyed her.

“Sophia said you never drink. Was this a lie?” Eva asked, studying me.

Well, it was more of an inspection of everything about me, and she seemed completely unfazed by the fact I wore only my lounge pants.

“For thirty-five years, I hadn’t.”

“And what made you change your mind?”

My heart clenched. “I decided to stop fighting my nature and accept it.”

“Hmm.” A crease formed between her brows. “So it doesn’t have to do with you trying to numb the pain of walking away from Sophia?”

I dropped my head into my hands. “Jesus, another Morelli here to play shrink.”

“She knows what you did in the club was intentional.”

“Was that a question?”

“Okay, have it your way. Here is a statement and a question. You love each other. Am I wrong?”

I looked at her. “She doesn’t even know me. I keep her in the high of subspace, and she mistakes it for love. She couldn’t even protect herself from me.”

Eva snorted. “You think highly of your cock, don’t you?”

“Of course, he does. He is Dom Damon. Every sub wants a piece of him.” Lucian strode into the living room, wiping his hands on a cloth. “Too bad he’s given all of it up now. Want to tell Eva why?”

“No, I’d rather you get lost.”

“I’m warming up Eva’s famous gnocchi for you. The hell if I’m leaving without enjoying a plate of it.” He took a spot in an armchair across from me.

“Circling back to Sophia,” Eva interjected. “You’re not giving her enough credit. She survived in our family. We grew up in the epitome of toxic childhoods. She protected herself from the abuse of our parents.”

“The two of you and Leo stepped in. She told me.”

Surprise flashed across Eva’s face, and she shot a quick glance at Lucian before refocusing on me. “She shared things about our family with you?”

I nodded, feeling the burning deep in my gut.

“Then she must have told you how she protected herself in the dangerously competitive fashion and modeling world?” Eva posed her words as a question, but I knew it was a statement.

“I know everything that happened to her. She’s the strongest woman I’ve ever encountered.”

“So let me get this straight. Sophia is strong enough to survive our insane family, her ruthless career, her invasive public life, but not a relationship with you, even if it entails kink?” Eva stood, moving around me and toward my kitchen. “You do think highly of your magic cock. For a smart man, you’re very stupid. Come on, it’s time to eat.”

“You heard the pregnant lady, let’s eat. Then you need to go fix things with our baby sister.”

CHAPTER TWO

Sophia

“Sophia, Sophia, Sophia. I’m not sure whether to worry or applaud you on this collection you are designing.”

I pulled a safety pin from between my lips and cocked a brow at my dear friend, Karina Mehta. She studied the five detailed sketches pinned to the large board on the wall. Her fashion designer eye missed nothing, and from the way she scrutinized every aspect of my unique outfits, she had opinions to share with me.
