“I do too.” Abel climbs in beside me. Puts a hand on my thigh. “Should we switch it up? Keep things interesting?”

My heart somersaults, even as my body lights up. “Are you saying what I think you’re saying?”

“That we should make some babies? Yes.”

I laugh, joy tickling my sides. “Seeing you hold Reesedefinitely did something to me.”

“Get that IUD taken out, then.”

“You’re really ready?”

“I’m ready. I mean, I’m gonna keep my truck. But the minivan will be our main ride. Or I hope it will be, sooner rather than later.”

“Our ride into the sunset.”

He smiles at me, putting the cart in gear. “Let’s get a move on, then.”

Home

Three months later

The six of us—Luand Riley, Maren and Tuck, Jenny and me—barely fit in the photo booth.

“It’s my dress.” Jenny tucks the voluminous skirt of her gown against her legs. “Sorry, y’all.”

Lu shakes her head. “Don’t you dare apologize for that masterpiece of a wedding dress. It’s perfection.”

“I agree. It’s soyou, Jen,” Maren adds. “Classic with a twist.”

“Aw, look, y’all, you’re making Abel cry again.” Riley claps my shoulder and smiles. “Not gonna lie, I like this softer side of him.”

Wiping my eyes, I grab Jen’s hand. “You just—so beautiful, Jen. I can’t get over how beautiful you look in it. The dress.”

I mean that. I lost it when I saw her for the first time as she walked down the aisle in Bald Head’s only church a few hours ago, a tiny, exquisitely appointed place not far from ourhouse. Maren hit the nail on the head: the dressisJen. It’s a little princess-y with a tight bodice and a full skirt, but the simple details keep it modern: ivory satin, narrow straps, and clean lines. She wore a long veil during the ceremony, and she topped it all off with simple jewelry.

I couldn’t breathe as I watched her walk toward me, her arm looped through Joe’s. He was a mess too, smiling as he wiped his eyes with the monogrammed handkerchief Jen gifted him.

It was one of the most beautiful moments of my life when he placed her hand in mine. He made us laugh when he murmured, “Don’t forget I was the one who set y’all up. You’re welcome.”

Then we got married, for real this time, in front of a hundred family members and friends. When the ceremony ended, we all loaded into some trolleys—we got special permission to use them tonight—and headed to The Ocean Club for our reception. The waitlist for having your wedding at the club is literally a year long, but Riley pulled some strings and got us on the cancellation list. A few weeks later, we were able to book a date in early September.

Now here we are, trying to squeeze into a photo booth with our best friends in the world so we can get a picture of the original Harbour Village crew.

My wife bites her lip, grinning. “Thank you.” She fingers one of the buttons on my tuxedo shirt. I ditched the jacket when our band went on a couple hours ago. Jen and I have been dancing our faces off ever since. “You look even more handsome in a tux than I imagined.”

“That right?” I lick my lips. “Glad I delivered.”

Jen’s grin deepens. “You gonna deliver some more of that goodness later tonight?”

Tuck scoffs and rolls his eyes. “Can y’all at least wait until I’m not in the room to go there?”
