“I think it’s cute,” Lu says. “Honeymoon sex is the best sex. Right, Riley?”

Riley and Lu recently got back from their month-long honeymoon to the Indian Ocean. I read the itinerary and thought it was the most ridiculous, most expensive thing I’d ever seen.

I promptly asked him for his travel agent’s information and booked an equally extravagant honeymoon for Jen and me. One she may not know about yet. I told her to be ready to get on a plane tomorrow morning, but beyond that, I said I wanted to surprise her. Jen, being Jen, was tickled by this, and asked if she should bring warm weather clothes or cold weather clothes.

“How about no clothes?” I replied.

Riley sucks a breath through his teeth, bringing me back to the present. “Honestly, any sex with you is the best sex, so.”

“Y’all are killing me,” Tuck groans. “I love that the two of you are so obsessed with each other, but, yeah, I don’t wanna know what goes on behind closed doors.”

Jen’s smiling now. “You’d die.”

“Exactly.”

Riley laughs. “Oh, like you and Maren don’t?—”

“Get creative? We most certainly do.” Maren smirks. “As I’m sure you’ve all noticed, Tuck is quite agile for his size.”

Jen laughs when she sees her brother turn beet red. “Y’all are cute.”

“And apparently horny, even with two kids in the house.” Lu shakes her head. “I bow down.”

Tugging a hand through his hair, Tuck asks, “As much as I’d love to hang out with you perverts in this miniscule space, I’d like to get back to dancing. Can we take the photo now, please?”

We hold up our props and pose as best as we can. It’s a ridiculous shot, all of us sweaty and a little tipsy, but somehow we make it work.

“Love y’all,” Jen says after we take what feels like five hundred pictures. “Thank you for being here tonight. Really means the world to Abel and me.”

I’m crying again, Jen is laughing, and we’re all hugging each other like we’re not going to run into everyone at the Maritime Market Deli tomorrow morning.

We lucked out with great weather, so the reception is being held outside on the Ocean Club’s terrace. The sky is clear and full of stars, and the rush of the ocean is just audible over the band. It’s warm but not too humid, a miracle considering it’s September, and the salty breeze is just refreshing enough to cool my overheated skin.

Jen and I walk hand in hand back to the reception. The dance floor is packed, and so is the open bar. Everyone is smiling, chatting. Clearly having a good time.

Jen squeezes my hand. “We did it. We actually pulled off a real marriageanda fake one.”

“We’re good.” I meet her eyes. “I love you, baby. I hope this day is everything you’d dreamed of and more.”

Joe wanted to pay for the wedding, but I insisted he let me “help”. That meant we were able to hire Jen’s first choice of wedding planner, and we were able to check off every item on her wish list.

My wife swallows before leaning in to kiss my mouth. “Today has been magic. I hope it’s everything you wanted too.”

“It’s perfect. Just like you.”

This time I kiss her. A soft but deep caress that has her putting her hand on my chest. A familiar warmth gathers between my legs.

“I cannot wait to get you home,” I murmur.

Jen smiles. “We have the rest of our lives for that.”

“I’d like to start the rest of our lives as soon as possible, thank you very much.”

“Soon.”

Joe and Lady are the first people we run into. Joe greets us with a wide smile, a flute of champagne in his hand. “Cheers, y’all. You throw one hell of a party.”

“You two are gorgeous together,” Lady says. “There was not a dry eye in that church earlier. Beautiful day.”
