“Will do.”

She stepped out of the office and a hush fell over the group at the table. Marcus wasn’t around.

“Where did Marcus go?” she asked.

“He went with Charity to log in that evidence. He said he’d be back in a second,” Autumn said. “Do you think we’ll be able to do dinner tonight still?”

She and Autumn were the newest members and had struck up a kind of relationship. They would get together for dinner or drinks, every now and then.

“I don’t see why not. I’ll let you know if something takes off.”

“Cool. Just let me know.”

“I’ll text you. I have a feeling this was just a man being stupid. I looked over the evidence list. There was not one item of his found other than his clothes. Money was gone but credit cards remained.”

Autumn nodded. “Yeah, I was thinking there should be some bling, right?”

“Definitely. He would have very little money in the bank but a Rolex that cost more than all of my college tuition on his wrist.”

“I saw a pic from an FBI report. He had a lot of chains on.”

Tamilya nodded.

“So, want to tell me about this Harry dude?”

She shrugged. “We dated awhile when I was living in DC.”

“After Marcus?”

“Yeah.”

“No feelings?”

Tamilya blinked. “No. We’re still really good friends but that’s it.”

“First, please don’t tell Marcus that because I want to see him get all hot and bothered by it.”

“He didn’t...” her voice trailed off when Autumn crossed her arms beneath her breasts and nodded. “Oh, well, no reason to. Our split was mutual, and we’ve remained friends.”

“Also, you don’t mind if I hit that, do you?”

Anger surged. “Marcus?” she asked, trying to keep her voice as neutral as possible.

“Oh, man,” Autumn said chuckling. “You’re pissed about that.”

“Am not.”

“That was mature, but I will let it go. No. The SEAL.”

“Oh. Sure. He’s a really good guy. And don’t talk like you’re some kind of player.”

In fact, Autumn was a virgin at the ripe age of thirty. It was hard to trust people after being raised in a cult, but she had only told Tamilya about her virginity. While she might seem open, Autumn was a very private person about some things. Her sex life was one of them.

“Oh, there’s Marcus,” she said with a smile. She leaned closer before Tamilya could look over at him. “He’s gonna want to talk to you about the SEAL. Tell him you’re going to have dinner with him.”

“Stop that,” she said. “Ready?” she asked Marcus when he stepped up to them.

He nodded, but didn’t say anything. So this was going to be fun.
