The view switched to the hallway where the two walked down to the room together. Golubev stopped twice to kiss her.

“That’s one confident woman,” Marcus said.

“Not necessarily,” Tamilya said, watching as the two of them disappeared into the room.

“What do you mean?”

She tore her gaze away from the screen and looked at him. “Women who work in that kind of environment—whether she works for a government or is a freelancer—would know that her walk would indicate how she feels in the world. You’re trained to walk like that. I know I was. Doesn’t mean that she’s a bad ass, but it could mean that she’s had training.”

“Me too,” Autumn said finishing off her pizza. “Even when I was undercover as a crack whore—”

“Wait, you were undercover as a crack whore?” Charity asked. “We must have deets.”

“No, we need to get our work done, then she can tell us. So, we don’t know much about her; other than she’s tiny and apparently has ice in her veins because that was mid-day and she had all of those clothes on,” Tamilya said. “What about leaving the room?”

Charity shook her head. “That was messed with. I tried to go through it, but they said the disc had been wiped clean.”

“So, maybe she—or whoever she’s working with—thought they had all the recordings. Or, maybe she left looking like herself, so she deleted those. Either way, she can hack, or she has connections to hackers. Which, if she’s a spy, makes sense. Russia has their troll farms, but China has some world class hackers working for the Ministry of State Security.”

“It’s more than we previously had. Plus, now that I know what she looks like, I’m going to search the feeds around Honolulu for that afternoon. We might get lucky and gather more info,” Charity said. “Someone dressed like that is going to appear out of place.”

“Sounds good. Ping Marcus or me if anything pops up.”

“Sure thing.”

“Let’s go talk to Del,” she said, and Marcus nodded. As they waited for the elevator, her thoughts went back to the woman. There couldn’t be that many agents in the world that small. It wasn’t that a woman that size wasn’t capable of doing the job, but it wasn’t something she saw every day.

They stepped into the elevator.

“What are you thinking?” he asked.

She broke away from her thoughts. “I’m not sure if she is an agent. I could see her being an agent in some ways, but a woman that small doesn’t always make it through a lot of the training.”

“But Chinese women are usually smaller in stature.”

“Yeah, that’s true. She had white skin, but, then again, she could have used make up to hide that.”

“He had no idea she was an agent. Like it wasn’t a meet up.”

“What do you mean?”

“I looked at him. The expression on his face told me he was ready to get it on. The two kisses...he wanted her. So, if she was work, it was part pleasure.”

“I didn’t even think of looking at him. I was so intent on her,” she said, irritated with herself for missing it. She rolled her shoulders trying to get herself prepared to brief Del, although now she questioned whether she knew her crap. She had missed even looking at Golubev.

“Hey,” he said turning toward her. “Don’t let it go to your head. You can’t find everything. You missed one thing. I’m sure I missed a lot.”

“No you didn’t.”

“I missed the skin color. I mean it registered, but I didn’t factor it into whether she was white or not. I guess, like you said, it doesn’t matter with the makeup and things they can do today. She was so well covered.”

She nodded as the door opened. Standing on the other side were Adam and Del. They looked between the two of them, and Tamilya felt her cheeks turn warm.

“Hey, we were coming to see you,” Adam said.

“Now you don’t have to. We got the woman on tape,” she said stepping off the elevator, causing Marcus to follow her.

“And?” Del asked.
