“Is he? Because the two times he’s been home, I’ve seen pieces of my brother lost. He’s become more of a stranger each time and leaves again before I get a chance to figure out who the new twin is in front of me.”

His grip on my thigh tightens, lighting me up from the inside. Iwant to fix this for him. I want to be the one to tell him it’s going to be okay, to be the one who fills his time, who takes away the hurt, who can be the distraction.

We can’t help but lean in closer, our desire pulling us together. Like a ship searches a lighthouse for safety at night, our bodies are searching for a comfort only we can give one another.

Our lips touch and my blood ignites from our immediate connection, a touch that’s like nothing I’ve felt before, confirming my initial thoughts. I had one last breath to lose before I felt like I would die without a taste of him.

He rolls to his side, grabbing my hip, and pulls me to meet him. His kiss feels possessive and I’m more than okay with being owned.

He tastes of the bitter ale and the tequila he was drinking, but the sweetness of his lips erases it. He pulls my leg over his hip, our bodies begging for impact.

He drops his forehead to mine, breaking our kiss as he pants lightly. I smooth my forehead across his, my hands seeking his skin as I slide them under his t-shirt.

“Ad,” he whispers my name again.

“What do you need, Billy?”

He pulls his head back slightly, making eye contact. He’s unreadable. I want to say his eyes look sad, but more so, his pupils are blown and I’m not sure it’s the alcohol or the lust shining through.

“Do you want to go home?” I whisper.

He shakes his head as his eyes drop to my lips.

“Do you want me to go homewithyou?” He watches my lips as the words leave them, then looks me in the eye.

“More than anything else.”

I smile at his words and am met with that famous smirk. “Let’s go.”

CHAPTER TEN

ADLEY

We just about make itinside before we’re putting on a show for the neighbors. This night is already going to be burned into my brain as the hottest night I’ve ever had with someone. I don’t think twice about what I’m doing or the trouble it could bring to our relationships with Chelsea and Adam. Hell, the whole family.

“You ready, Ad?”

“Ready to teach you? I mean, not particularly, but- Ahh!” I dissolve into giggles as he throws me over his shoulder, smacks my ass and walks me down the hall to his bedroom.

“There will be no teaching tonight, Adley. I’m going to show you what you deserve to have every night of your life.”

He tosses me onto the bed, prowling over me, not giving me a moment to think twice or wait for his next move. He’s already there. Touching and teasing. Whispering words of filth and desire.

“I’ve thought about you every night since that first party. I’veimagined you bent over this bed every which way while I drive into you.” He pauses and sheds his shirt and I run my palms over his muscled chest as he continues, “I’ve imagined your hands on me, just like this, while I slowly undress you here. In my bed. Exactly where you belong.”

He moves away from me and stands beside the bed, unbuttoning his jeans and pushing them down his legs, his eyes locked with mind as he steps out of them. His body is magnificent, tanned skin with cut abs and a strong chest.

I pull my tank off and lift to slide my shorts off. His eyes drift over my body like a caress, lingering on the pink lace I’m wearing, and I gasp. His delicious smile lets me know everything I need to know. If just one look can light me up, I’m in for so much more tonight.

Watching as he walks to the dresser, I take in his room. It is a decent size, with windows facing the backyard, but there’s no television, which is surprising. The wall opposite the bed is a work of art, it’s detailed woodwork of shelving and drawers built into the wall. It’s gorgeous with extensive designs, the shelves running the length of the wall with books along half of it. The other side holds high school trophies and picture frames of the family.

He runs his fingers across the books.“Do you like to read, Adley?”

I’m not sure if he knows I write. I’ve never mentioned it, and I’m not sure if maybe my sister has said anything. So, I reply, “I do.”

“Yeah? What do you like to read?”

“Don’t laugh.”
