Shrugging as I see Tom cross his arms and lean against the entrance into the kitchen. “I don’t give a fuck. We’re twins. We got the same shit going on.”

He narrows his eyes. “Not quite.”

I stifle a laugh. “You’re right. You’re not man enough.”

Rolling his eyes he replies, “No, I’m just not a fucking idiot to think it’d be a good idea to pierce my dick. There’s a difference.”

“Don’t knock it till you try it.”

“Never.”

Snickering, I follow him as he pushes off the wall and walks back into the kitchen.

“Thirsty?”

“Always.” My mouth waters at the thought of a beer right now. I glance at the clock noting that it’s only three in the afternoon, but I’ve been up since six, and I’ve always run with the old adage that it’s five o’clock somewhere.

The distinct sound of him popping the top catches my attention, and I take it from him and down almost half in one swallow. Feeling the alcohol run down my throat, my mood instantly lightens, and I turn to Tom and say, “Let’s sit outside. I have an idea I want to run by you.”

He nods and we exit onto the deck. His back yard is similar to all of ours, only without a pool, but it’s a great plot of green grass, a few trees for shade and a paver patio with a fire pit. Each of our backyards is our own little oasis escape.

Slouching into an Adirondack chair I ask, “Where’s the rest of the clan? We gotta talk.”

He frowns, eyeing me suspiciously. “What are you up to?”

“Just get Adam and Francesca on FaceTime.”

Pulling his phone out, he sits in the chair next to me and holds the phone up, and Chess instantly comes into view.

“My favorite set of twins!” She exclaims, and I laugh.

“Don’t let Triple A hear you say that!”

Her eyes widen and she looks over her shoulder in an exaggerated manner. “Is he on, too?” She puts her face right into the camera, looking left and right.

Francesca, the only girl of the family, was always doted on. And even though she’s older than Tom and me, I watched out for her like an older brother would. When she married Jackson, I’ll admit I relaxed a bit because I trusted him to take care of her. I didn’t have to worry as much, and she came off the top of my radar.

“He’s about to be.” I nudge Tom. “Hit him up.”

His call takes longer to connect because Adam thinks everyone waits on him. I know he’s still working because I left him at a job before I came here. Taking a quick swig of my beer before his face connects, I sink further into my chair.

“Fuck. What do you two want?” he asks grumpily.

“Hey!” Francesca retorts. “You better not be talking to me!”

“Sissy?” Adam says, obviously alarmed to hear her on the call. “You’re here, too? What happened? What’s wrong?”

“Relax, brother,” I reply. “I called this meeting.”

His eyes narrow. “I’ve been with you all day. What’s going on?”

“So dramatic.” I wave him off and Tom chuckles. “So, listen, Mom and Dad’s anniversary is coming up. I want to plan a party.”

“Youwant to plan a party? Or you want your sister who runs a public relations company to make phone calls and sort out all the details and you just show up?”

“As enticing as that sounds … actually, yes, I would like that.”

“Bil-”
