His expression is somewhere between a smirk and a scowl. “He comes occasionally. You a football fan or is it specifically Zac Ledger?”

I shrug. “Is it wrong to say both?” I laugh when his scowl deepens. “I mean, he has nothing on you, but…heisthe GOAT.”

“He’s all right.” His smirk is back. “Okay, he’s great. Good guy, sweet wife, best little girl ever…you’ll love the guy.” He pretends to be annoyed, but I just laugh at him. “Professionally though, I think Weston Shaw is about to turn everything upside down.”

I must look perplexed because his eyes widen playfully.

“From The Mustangs?” he adds and when I bite my bottom lip, he shakes his head. “Not a Mustang fan, I take it?”

I make a face. “Sorry. Are they doing well?”

He kisses the tip of my nose. “They are. But it’s just as well you don’t know about Shaw. He’s in the same state and single.”

I laugh. “Trust me. A football player is the last thing I want.”

“Yeah? You asked about my type, but I never found out aboutyourtype.”

I put my hands on his bulging biceps and squeeze. “None of them have anything on you, Callum,” I say softly. “I didn’t know a man like you existed.”

He groans as he leans in to kiss me again. “You’re making me want to forget all about taking you out. Tomorrow, Happy Cow, maybe dinner at Tiptop? Today, frequent visits to my bed?”

I put my hands on my cheeks to cool them down andpress my lips together to keep from laughing. “How about today and tomorrow, all of the above? Happy Cow and then—”

“Such a multitasker.” He lifts me up and places me on top of the island. “I need a little taste to tide me over...”

My mouth parts and when he sees the lust in my eyes, he grins and starts undoing my pants. I lift up and he undoes my pants, cursing against my skin when he sees me.

“So damn pretty,” he whispers.

His tongue is flicking over my lace before he even tugs them out of the way, finding my wet center. He hums against me and it feels so good I can’t think straight.

My hands fall back behind me as I whisper his name, his hands holding my hips steady as his mouth works me over. The need for him builds until I’m delirious, my eyes rolling back as he sucks me senseless. When his fingers slide inside and out, his mouth never letting go, I lose my mind. I fall apart, and it feels endless. When I open my eyes again, he’s watching me and he places one more kiss there before standing up, his lips shining from me. I’m dazed and weak and euphoric as he puts my panties and jeans back in place.

He leans on the island, his arms on either side of me, and he looks a little drunk himself.

“I could do that forever,” he says.

“I would not complain.”

He smirks at how my voice trembles. Or maybe it’s pride about how he just rocked my world. Either way, it’s such a good look on him.

The thick bulge in his pants distracts me, but when I reach out to undo his pants, he intercepts, lifting my hand and kissing my knuckles.

“I promised you breakfast. This can wait.” His voice is husky as he adjusts himself.

My mouth waters, so ready for him. But he turns and walks toward the door, grabbing my coat off of the hook and holding it out for me. I slide into it with his help, still shaky from the way he so easily makes me fall apart.

CHAPTER TWENTY

SILENCE AND SWEETS

CALLUM

Something strange happens as we’re walking on the sidewalk outside Happy Cow. A few tourists stop and take pictures of Ruby and me, squealing when they see us. And then a whole other group of girls come up and ask us to sign their T-shirts.

I glance at Ruby in question and then take a shirt from one of the girls, recognition striking when I see the familiar emu Ruby had on hernightshirt.

“You want her signature, not mine.” I hold the shirt back out for the girl to take.
