We have a fancy dinner where we drink wine and eat more than we should, high on life, and when the piano player starts singing, “Can’t Help Falling in Love,” it feels like another sign. With her hand in mine, we walk over by the piano and dance. As other couples join us, the musician gets inspired, and we dance as long as he plays. My body is sokeyed up from having her body lined up with mine, that by the time we get back to the house, I feel like one brush of her hand against me could send me soaring.

She must feel the same way because when the door closes behind us, she turns and puts her hand on me, making a little whimper when she feels how hard I am.

“I don’t know if I can wait until we get upstairs to have you inside me. Or another second. Dancing with you…the wine…the wedding...” She moans when I lick my way up her neck. “You have been priming me for hours.”

I tug my tie away from my neck and she gets it undone. We’re a tangle of clothes and hands and tongues. Her sweater dress isn’t the easiest for me to get off of her since I’m still trying to be careful not to hurt her burns, so she takes over.

And she gives me the shock of my life when what’s underneath that dress is a white all-lace one piece. She stands in front of me in nothing but lace and boots…

“Fuck, Ruby. What isthis?”

I clutch my chest and my dick bobs around in my briefs with one pulse after another. I’m way too close to exploding. I grip the tip hard and will myself to chill.

She gives me a coy look. “Remember when Scarlett ran home to get something yesterday? It wasn’t really food. She brought this back for me. Said she’d just made it and it was a little present for both of us.”

Her hand is on her hip and then she turns around slowly, looking at me over her shoulder. The lace highlights her perfect round cheeks, leaving them bare for me to stare at in wonder.

Fuck.

“You never told me she makes things like this,” she says.

I scrub my hand over my face. “Not something we sharemuch with each other.” My mouth is watering. “God, Ruby. You. Are. Perfection. I cannot wait.”

Her mouth parts. “Well, it’s a good thing I’m ready for you.”

“Get over here,” I growl.

CHAPTER TWENTY-SEVEN

THE VALLEY

RUBY

My body is deliciously sore when I wake up. I open my eyes and Callum’s head is propped up on his hand as he looks at me.

“You’re watching me sleep?” My voice comes out in a hoarse rasp.

I used my lungs last night. Alot.

“If it’s creepy, I’m not sure I can stop. You’re too beautifulto look away.”

“I stared at you for an hour before I got up to make breakfast yesterday. I really wanted to pull the covers off of you and stare at you completely naked, but I thought you might think that was a littleeek.” I hold my hands up and wave them.

“Hmm.”His chuckle is deeper this morning from using his lungs too. “My wife has permission to stare at me any way she wants.”

“Oh, wait, that’s me, I’m the wife,” I say, smiling at him before I lift the covers and stare at him in all his glory.

“Hmm.”

“I swear that one-syllable chuckle is going to be the death of me.”

“One-syllable chuckle?” he repeats.

I mock him and he gives me another one, his cheeks turning pink when I point at him.

“It’s my laugh,” he says, groaning when he does it again.

“It’s so sexy I can’t take it.”
