My eyebrow lifts hearing her innocent tone when her expression is anything but. I wish I could stick around and kiss her senseless, but work is calling.

“You too, sweetness,” I say under my breath.

Her cheeks flush again and I freaking love it.

Miss Eleanor is already at work when I get there; she typically is. The woman’s work ethic is fierce. She’s been the judicial secretary for as long as I can remember, working with the two judges who preceded me. All business and supremely private,Miss Eleanor has never been married and is one of the few people in town who consistently keeps to herself. I’ve tried to break the ice with her, make her comfortable with more of a relaxed environment, but she never cracks.

I don’t have any idea if she has family nearby; she never shares personal antidotes. Because of this, I don’t talk about my family with her, and my family doesn’t know much about her either. She doesn’t ask any personal questions about them. It’s very professional, and at times exhausting, the sheer effort it takes to remain so proper and detached.

“Good morning, Miss Eleanor. How are you today?”

“Very well, thank you, Judge Landmark. And you?”

“Very well.”

We go through our daily routine exchange and as she hands me the files for the day, I sneeze, startling her.

“Bless you,” she says.

I thank her and look around for the tissues that are normally within reach but don’t see them. I sneeze again and grab my pocket handkerchief out of my jacket to blow my nose in case another sneeze comes. I don’t even register the color or texture of my handkerchief until I feel it against my nose, and pull it away, frowning. When I look up, Miss Eleanor’s cheeks are bright red. I glance down again to see Felicity’s pink lace panties and my own face flames.

“Excuse me, Miss Eleanor,” I say with as much dignity as I can muster.

She nods, her eyes staying trained on one of her files.

I rush back to my office, trying to hold my laugh in until I’ve shut the door. I hold up the pretty underwear and stare at them for a minute before putting them back in my pocket. It’s hard to stop laughing as I pull out my phone and text Felicity.

I’m glad I didn’t discover your surprise in court. However, I don’t think Miss Eleanor will ever recover.

She answers my text within seconds.

Felicity

I’ll need another pair, please. Before I realized what I was doing, I almost blew my nose in your pretty pink panties.

I’d imagined blowing something else entirely.

Felicity

o.O The mouth on you! Hold on a second while I fan my face. I’m at the grocery store and Cecil just asked if I’m sunburned.

Felicity

There are plenty more where those came from.

Now I’ll be thinking of my mouth on you the rest of the day.

Felicity

Cecil just handed me an aloe vera plant. Have mercy on me, Your Honor.

My laughter rings out in my office, and for the rest of the day, I try my best to focus, but it’s an uphill battle.

About fifteen minutes before I leave for the day, Grinny messages.
