Owen holds out his hand and Sutton reaches into his pocket, tossing a quarter that Owen catches in mid-air. He glances at Sutton expectantly and Sutton shakes his head, laughing.

“You’re lucky you got that much—I didn’t say the word,” Sutton says, lifting his shoulders.

Owen’s eyes are full of mischief as he pockets the quarter.

“It was implied,” he says.

It was implied?I bite the inside of my mouth to keep from laughing. This kid is smart!

Sutton wrangles Owen back to him, tickling his side. “Can’t get anything past this guy,” he says.

“Next time just go ahead and say the swear so I can get a dollar,” Owen says, laughing as he gets out of Sutton’s reach.

“My brother’s fiancée has a four-year-old daughter, and since they got here, she’s been cleaning up our language,” Sutton explains. “I’m about to go broke now that this one’s caught on.”

“I totally missed whatever you said,” I say, laughing.

“Eagle ears didn’t,” Sutton mutters, pretending to be annoyed, which cracks Owen up.

God, they are so cute together. How will I not dissolve into mush every time I’m around the two of them?

And note to self:Clean up your shitty language.

“Can we help you with your stuff?” Owen asks.

“Oh, I think Weston and I can get it all, but thank you,” I say.

I need to limit the time my brother is around Sutton and Owen before he realizes I’m just the nanny.

“Nonsense,” Sutton says.

“Please, we want to help,” Owen chimes in.

“See? We want to help.” Sutton grins. “What all do you have?”

“Not much,” I say, just as Weston says, “A ton.”

I roll my eyes at him and he smirks, lifting his shoulders.

“What? You brought an entire library,” he says.

“Never too many books,” I say.

Weston pops the trunk on his SUV and is already pulling out boxes. When Owen jogs over to help, Weston hands him a tall lamp.

“Yeah, but does everyone also bring their own fancy reading lamp to a fully furnished place?” Weston teases.

“You got that?” he asks Owen.

Owen nods, his brows and mouth puckering with the effort of lifting the lamp.

“People who aren’t jocks do,” I tease under my breath to Weston, but Sutton hears me and I see the corners of his mouth twitch.

When Weston’s reaching in to get something else, I do the slight kick behind his knees that gets him every time, and sure enough, his legs jolt forward. This time, Sutton laughs out loud and the swarm of flutters in my chest take flight at the sound. I think I stare at him for a full ten seconds without moving. His eyes crinkle up at the sides and his teeth are extra white against the scruff on his cheeks. Scruff that I bet only makes an appearance on the weekends.

“Yep, you’re gonna hit it off with my little sister Scarlett,” he says, still laughing.

“Oh, how old is she? Does she live around here?”
