“I want answers.” I nod, realizing that I need them.
“Whatever you need me to do, however, I can help you get those answers; just say it, and I will make sure it happens.”
“Let me think about it for a bit. Ok?”
“Of course. Talk to me when you know what you want to do.”
Antonio moves his chair closer to mine and strokes his broad hand over my thigh. He smiles at me. “Do you like my cheese sauce?”
“Ourcheese sauce,” I correct him.
He laughs. “Fine. Ours.”
“It is fantastic. And you were right; the paprika adds an excellent hint to it.”
“Told you,” he grins.
After dinner, Antonio runs a large bubble bath and pulls me toward the bathroom. He undressed me, stroking his hands over my body, then guides me into the warm water. He strips down and climbs in behind me, letting me rest my back against his chest. He runs his fingers through my hair, massaging my scalp, and while I lay against him with my eyes closed, savoring every moment I have with him, he whispers how much I mean to him.
I run my hands over his legs, where they are wrapped on either side of me.
“I have never felt this at home before, Antonio. With anyone, anywhere. And it’s not the place; it’s you. So wherever you go, I am going to follow you. Because you are my home.”
“My beautiful girl, you are my world, and I will take you everywhere I go. These things that are bothering us now, that are stuck in our thoughts, we are going to sort them out together. And if anything else comes up, we sort that out together, too. The bottom line is that I am always going to be here for you, and I know I can always rely on you to be there for me. We are going to be an unstoppable force, you and I. And soon, we are going to be running New York.”
I lean my head back and tilt it to the side so that I can kiss him. He wraps his hand underneath my chin and pulls my face toward his. Beneath the water, I feel his body respond to me, so I press my back harder against his groin, rubbing my body against his.
He runs his hands over my breasts and smiles against my mouth.
“It’s you and me, forever,” I whisper as he spins me over to face him and glides my body up onto his. We move against each other, letting the warm water rock back and forth over us.
Later, when we climb into bed, he pulls me right up against me and tells me I am the most beautiful thing in the world.
I fall asleep with a smile on my lips and warmth in my heart, feeling safe and loved.
He will help me get the answers I want. I don’t have to worry about it; I just have to figure out what I need to do.
Wrapped in his arms, I fall asleep and sleep and, knowing that nothing in the world can touch me when he is with me.

At a coffee shop,sitting opposite Arton and one man who used to work on my father’s security team, I explain to them what I want to do.
“Are you sure now is the right time to be worrying about this? Your friend is missing. Shouldn’t that be your primary concern?” Arton asks, not challenging me but calling me to reassure him I have thought this through. I can respect that.
“She is the woman I love, and she is struggling without answers. I want to help her, and this is how I can do that.”
“The man you are talking about kidnapping he has ties to the mafia. He has not been active for many years, but he is still a dangerous man with contacts.”
“I am aware. That is why I will keep this private. I don’t want the whole family knowing. Look, all we want to do is talk to him - away from his house, in an environment that I can control.”
“I have a place you can use. And this is Diego. He is the muscle for things like this.”
“Diego, can I trust you to keep this information a secret from the rest of the family?”
Diego sneers his lip, showing his distaste for what I want to do, but he nods. “Yes, boss. I will do as you ask.”
