“I’m so proud of you,” he says deeply.

“You are?” I ask hopefully. I would hate to disappoint him.

“I am,” he answers. “You held it together until we found you. You fought to stay with us.” He drops his head close to mine. “Now, we have you. Let it go,” he growls.

I blink rapidly, but it’s no use. My eyes flood. “I am so glad to be with you,” I cry, my voice cracking. I let it go. I relive all the moments in the cottage. The pain and fear. I didn’t want to be taken from my mates. I did fear for my life. I didn’t know what they wanted or why they wanted me.

“I’ve got you, baby girl. Let Daddy have all the pain,” Las coos.

Giant sobs fill the bathroom. My hands grasp his arms, my nails holding him close. He drops the towel and puts his palms on either side of my neck.

“Why?” I screech. “Why does my brother have to be that way? Why did Heath have to force me into seeing him? Why do men hit so hard?”

“I’m sorry, baby. Your brother is sick. He needs help. We’ll make sure he gets what he needs.”

That makes me cry harder. Even though Caleb caused the situation, they are still willing to do what they can for him. I never want to leave them. They are everything. I will love them forever, not for what they can do for me, but how I feel when I’m with them.

Valued. Special. Beautiful. Loved.

When the tears stop, I take a deep breath and look at Las. “Why do you smell like smoke?”

“There was a fire. That’s why we had to leave.”

“Are you okay? Logan? Lucas?” I gasp. I was distracted in the barn, but now I remember smelling smoke.

“We are fine,” he assures. “Don’t worry about that now.”

If I didn’t love him before, what he does next would make me fall.

He kisses my left cheek lightly and drags his nose over mine before kissing the right. His lips are wet when he pulls away, staring at me steadily.

“Las?”

“Yeah, baby.”

“I love you.” I watch his eyes brighten.

“I love you too, baby.”

“You do?”

“Of course.” He smiles.

“Good.” I grin back, ignoring my split lip. “Are we going to take a shower?” The room is filled with fog.

“Yes, but not like last time.”

“Dang,” I sigh.

“You need to sleep. I will help you clean all the wounds first.”

“Alright,” I pout, even though I wouldn’t have the energy for anything else. “Thanks, Daddy.”

“Daddy always knows what my baby needs.”

He undresses me slowly and carefully, frowning at the bruises and cuts he uncovers. My shorts are ruined and didn’t offer any protection. I avoid looking at them. I can feel the scraps across them. I know those men were not careful as they packed me into the barn. I don’t know whether to be nauseous or grateful that I was unconscious. They could have done anything. I shiver.

“Are you cold?” Las asks as he removes the last of my clothes.
