As the music played and everyone mingled Levi and I stood off to the side while various members took turns approaching us. They thanked us for not giving up on them, offered us their praise, and some even gave us gifts.

Despite letting them know they didn’t owe us any gifts, they refused to take no for an answer and insisted anyway. By the time most of the pack had spoken with us, we had more things than we knew what to do with, but the two of us could only smile and soak in the way everything worked out.

While we shared food and stories, I found myself feeling better than ever.

Even if I had questioned her motives and decisions before, I knew then that the Goddess had chosen correctly. She decided that Levi and I would indeed make a great match, and she knew who needed to lead the two packs.

Since Levi won and everything was transferred to him, we all had the chance to live in harmony. To make choices for the best interest of the pack.

At last, there were no outcasts, and I would personally make sure that nobody faced the same ridicule I did before. So long as I was the Luna, I wouldn’t let anyone feel that same scorn and shame I had.

While I had no doubt there would be some slip-ups, given how the old pack had functions, I had the feeling everyone had more than enough incentive to do better. To appreciate what they had and find less thrill in belittling others.

“This is amazing,” Ivy said, reaching for my hands and pulling me aside. Her eyes glimmered with hope and joy as she smiled. It’s so nice to see everyone together and getting along. I never thought this would happen.”

“This is what we all needed,” I returned, proud of how far everyone had come. “I’m just so glad everything worked out.”

“Who would’ve thought Levi would be not only your fated mate but the alpha that would fix everything?” She teased, pulling a delighted laugh from me.

“If you had told me that months ago, I would’ve thought you were going crazy,” I hummed, giddy from the prospect of being his mate. Of knowing that I could feel safe and supported by him. “But I guess everything works out eventually.”

“Speaking of, I think someone would like to see you,” Ivy murmured with a smirk as she gently turned me around.

Immediately, I caught his eye from across the fire and was brought back to that night when my dancing had earned me his attention.

My heart squeezed from the enticing expression on his handsome face, and I didn’t have it in me to pretend like I wasn’t interested. He was everything I wanted and needed the most, and just taking him in was enough to spur that longing in me.

Before I could say anything else to Ivy, she disappeared into the crowd of people, and Levi was already on his way.

“Enjoying yourself?” He asked, lips curving into a smile.

“Now that I don’t have to worry about you being in any possible danger, yes, I am,” I returned in a more cheerful tone, happy to see that he wasn’t being shadowed by that hatred and anger anymore.

“I’m glad,” he hummed, reaching out for my hand. “Although, I’m hoping the party can spare you for a moment.”

Swallowing hard as that desire stirred within me from how attentively he looked down at me, I urged myself to keep it together a bit longer. “I don’t see why not.”

“It seems the alpha has other plans for the evening,” Ethan joked from where he stood with the others. “Brace yourself, Jane.”

Color dusted my cheeks from the comment, but Levi was quick to shoot him a warning look. “At least I have plans, Keller.”

The others broke out into an uproar, and Ethan was forced to eat his words as Beau put a hand of consolation on his shoulder. “Best to stay out of this, I think.”

“Please excuse him, Jane. Some of us aren’t as civilized as we should be,” Sebastian interjected pointedly, also giving Ethan a disapproving look.

“Maybe Ethan should find a Luna of his own,” I said, feeling brave as a knowing smile crossed my lips.

At once, the guys hollered among themselves, laughing and rubbing it in as they pulled a defeated Ethan away, leaving Levi and me to sit in amusement.

My mate nudged me gently with a chuckle. “Good one.”

With our fingers threaded together, Levi led me through the gathering, continuing through the trees. Carefully, we navigated through the greenery that almost seemed like a wall and didn’t stop until we broke into a cliffside.

By then, music and voices from the gathering were in the distance, and we were alone as we looked across the small valley, where the crescent moon rested in the sky.

“I didn’t think you had any more beautiful secret places to show me,” I joked, amazed by how beautiful it was.

“I guess I forgot about this one,” he murmured, smiling down at me as he pulled me into his side.
