Feeling nothing but comfort and warmth from him, I nuzzled against him and soaked in his familiar scent.
“A part of me always thought I’d face Sam and rectify the situation alone. I never thought I would’ve found my fated mate, especially not in those circumstances, but I can say confidently that none of this would’ve happened without you,” Levi began, voice gentle yet genuine as he spoke. “If it weren’t for you, I wouldn’t have anticipated his ambush or his potential cheating during the fight. Even if I was the one who did the fighting, you helped me and the others in more ways than I can count. So, thank you for believing in me and for not giving up on us, even if I deserved it before. I wouldn’t want to call anyone else my mate and my Luna.”
The overwhelming emotions made my nose tingle as I soaked in his words, unable to keep myself together.
“Even if you weren’t carrying our child right now, I would be just as committed to you and us. I meant before that I wanted to make this work, and that promise still stands,” Levi continued, facing me as he placed a gentle hand against my cheek. Every careful stroke of his thumb against my cheek made my legs feel weak. “If you’ll have me, Jane, I promise I’ll always go above and beyond for you. I won’t let you go a day without feeling appreciated or important. You are the backbone of this pack and the center of my life. I love you, and I will always mean that.”
Tears pricked my eyes as I looked up at him, completely shaken by his sincerity. Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think I would find myself so enamored with someone else.
“I love you too,” I managed to say despite how the emotions tried to choke me up. “Always.”
Satisfied with my response, he leaned in and captured my lips with his. Those sparks of pleasure immediately rained over me, sensing as that invisible bond between us felt stronger than ever before.
Placing a hand against his chest, I leaned on my toes to deepen the affection. As my heart squeezed from just how tender that kiss was, I didn’t want it to end. A rush of endorphins moved through me, and I had no interest in breaking that embrace too soon.
Fortunately, Levi was on the same page as he kissed me more intently, taking my face in his hands as he melded our lips together.
My core pulsed as he let that kiss linger before gently grabbing my lower lip between his teeth, and I immediately knew we were on the same page. Our minds and hearts were in the same place, and our inner wolves silently pleaded for us to continue.
A sigh passed my lips, immediately awakening those instincts in Levi as he placed his hands on the back of my thighs and hoisted me up with ease.
The kiss was interrupted for a moment until I was in his arms, and he backed me up until we reached a nearby tree. Carefully, he let my feet touch the ground again, but only as he connected our lips with fiery precision.
My mind was already a mess, desperate after everything had been said and done. With the danger and stress behind us, that burning want only got worse, and I already knew what my body was demanding of him.
“As much as I enjoyed the gathering, this is where my head has been all night,” Levi mumbled against my lips before he trailed his mouth down my neck as his fingers pushed the deep neckline of my white, flowing dress down my shoulders. Too impatient to get rid of it entirely, he cupped my breasts and kneaded them greedily.
A soft moan came from my mouth as I soaked up that affection, invigorated by every jolt of pleasure it gave me.
“I need my Luna,” he whispered into the crook of my neck before he pressed another kiss there and gave my chest some much-needed attention.
“So then take me,” I mumbled in return, feeling that haze as it clouded my mind and encouraged the encounter to continue.
I didn’t care that we were in the woods. I didn’t care that anyone could stumble upon us if they looked hard enough. I just wanted him.
Levi swallowed back a growl at my words, capturing my lips with his as he bunched up the material of my dress and dropped a hand beneath it.
The initial brush of his fingers against my sex made my back arch, and it squeezed another breathless moan out of me. The pleasure was immediate, and I craved more of it.
He took advantage of my exposed neck and dragged his tongue down the front until he kissed my throat tenderly. Every moment of it made me keen for more.
His skilled fingers carefully traced circles against my clit, eliciting more of those sounds from me. When he let them run through the length of my heat, gathering my arousal in his wake, Levi chuckled against my shoulder.
“I see your head’s been in the same place.”
His teasing sent a shiver down my spine, and I knew I didn’t need any more prepping.
“Please,” I murmured, looking up at him to find his lust-blown eyes. “I need it.”
Understanding what I meant, Levi pressed a kiss against my lips as he unbuttoned his pants and undid the zipper. All the while, I reached for the hem of his black tee and pulled it over his head.
As our hands worked, we were both stripped down, and that rough bark pressed into my back, but I didn’t care.
“Turn around,” he directed me, moving me by my hips.
Obediently, I did as he said and propped myself against the tree trunk.
Cursing to himself, Levi ran his hands up and down my back before he nudged my legs apart and gently caressed me from behind.
