Before I can answer, Jayce pipes up, “I want to research the land and any building permits.”

His words make me laugh, even in the dire mood I’m in.

“Why are you laughing?” Jayce questions me.

“Of course, research is your first thought. Don’t get me wrong, it's a smart move but it doesn’t surprise me that you suggest it,” I tell him.

His cheeks are pink from my words.

“Oh, Jayce. I didn’t mean it in a bad way,” I say, with a smile.

He rubs the back of his neck for a moment, “It’s what I do.”

Eli walks up to him and pats him on the shoulder and says, “And you’re the best man for the job, that’s all Raven meant.”

“Yeah?” Jayce questions.

“Yeah,” I agree. “Now get your cute ass on that research.”

Finally, a smile tips his lips and he gives me a peck on my cheek before he disappears into the other room.

"What do you want us to do?” Eli asks.

“Paper. We need to list what we need for the farm. Maybe find some numbers for an electrician and plumber,” I say.

“Great idea, we don’t want to burn down the house or flood it,” Eli says. “Yeah, and add an alarm system in. Hopefully, that will detour whoever is breaking in.”

I yawn, not because he is boring, but because it’s been an emotional day.

Raven

Iwake with two arms thrown over my chest. As much as I need to relieve my bladder, I don’t want to wake my guys either. So, instead of moving, I go over everything from yesterday in my head.

My uncle died, leaving me a farm and a small fortune.

Honestly, I don’t know how I feel about everything. I’m sad that Pandora is truly gone. Horrified at the thought of what could have happened. Worried we’ll never find her body and give her peace. Guilt because she’s needed me for all these years and I couldn’t help her.

The guys are way too excited about all of it. Lucien has been struggling with city life and out there everything seems to slow down. It’s gorgeous on the farm and I see the allure, but it’s more than just a farm.

I’m not sure I want to take over the property yet, but seeing them happy makes me happy.

The most unsettling thing is where did Pandora go? I know that my uncle did something to her, but what? I don’t think that I can truly settle at the farm until I find her. Just the idea of living comfortably while her bones are stuffed away in some unknown space fills me with dread and sadness.

Those are not exactly good feelings for starting a new chapter of our lives.

A finger grazes my cheek, startling me from my thoughts but I don’t jump too hard.

“Whatcha thinking about?” Eli whispers. His eyebrows are furrowed in concern. Apparently, I haven't been hiding my feelings as well as I thought. The last thing I want is to worry them.

“A better question would be, what am I not thinking about?” I mutter with a long sigh.

He pulls me close, “I’m here if you want to talk, but no pressure.”

I snuggle into him, “Thanks, but this is all I need for the moment.”

Lucien moves closer to me, but his snores tell me that he is still sleeping.

“How am I going to get up now?” I laugh.
