“Why would you want to do that?” Eli jokes around a yawn.

“Nature calls,” I admit, and just saying it out loud has me squirming against the now pressing urge.

“Oh, so I shouldn’t tickle you?” he asks.

“Not unless you are cleaning up the mess,” I state bluntly.

“Fine, but you’re fair game when you come back.” He moves Lucien’s hands off me and rolls me on top of him.

“Do you want me to leave?” Lucien mutters as his eyes flutter open.

“Not at all, just getting out of bed,” I tell him.

“That’s not what it looks like from here,” he comments drily. I’m glad he can be sassy even when groggy.

Eli and I both laugh as I climb to my feet. “Probably best to get up and moving, that farmhouse needs a lot of love.”

Both guys mumble complaints at my words.

“Where’s Jayce? He didn’t come to bed last night?” I ask, guilt flooding my system as I just realize this.

“He likely slept on his laptop. Before I came to bed, I did check on him, he was knee-deep in research and barely acknowledged that I was talking to him,” Eli tells me.

Typical Jayce.

“Okay, I’m going to shower and dress. I’m curious to see what he found,” I say, grabbing some clean clothes from my dresser.

“I’ll make a coffee run. I doubt Jayce got much sleep, so he’ll appreciate the caffeine and sugar rush first thing,” Eli says.

“Mind if I come with you?” Lucien asks.

I wasn’t sure who he was talking to.

“Me or Eli?” I laugh.

“Well, I meant with Eli, but if you want company I’ll never turn you down,” he smirks and runs his eyes suggestively over me.

I don’t know how to tell him no without letting him down. I’d love his company but we’d be in the shower too long and get a late start.

“Why don’t you go over the list of things we need for the farm? I want to get out there early and start some cleaning, unless Jayce has found something else we need to check out,” I tell him. The thought alone has hope blooming in my chest. Maybe he found a lead that’ll do us some good.

My sweet Lucien’s face doesn’t fall from his smirk, and I’m grateful for that.

“Sounds like a great plan of action and you know how much I love lists,” he jokes.

“I do.” I smile back before locking myself in the bathroom.

I turn the water on as hot as possible before I undress. Ever since getting the news my uncle died I can’t seem to get warm.

Once the steam starts to fog up the glass, I decide that it’s time to get into the boiling stream. That is until an invisible hand starts to write on the mirror. It’s crazy that I can’t even feel the presence of a ghost right now. In fact, why aren’t they speaking?!

Am I losing the gift that I was given when I first met Lucien as a ghost?

Fear racks me at the thought but I push it down as best I can. The fact that I’m more worried about if I’m losing it instead of being freaked out by the show of supernatural powers is telling of the past few months.

After Stella, nothing shocks me anymore.

“Pandora?” I ask in a whisper.
