If a girl is lucky, maybe the night will drag into some amazing orgasms all around.

As the miles bring us away from our home, it’s as if we all take a collective breath of relief. This is exactly what we needed.

“Are you still not going to tell us what's going on? Why are we in Clinton?” Eli asks in fake exasperation. We all know he’s excited already, he just can’t help but tease me.

“Nope,” I shoot back, popping the ‘p’ to be obnoxious. “But I will tell you that we have a room waiting for us at the Prestige. And by room, I mean a whole damn suite. They even said everything in the minibar is up for grabs and is complimentary!”

Now that we have our own business and combined finances, we can afford to splurge for a night and I didn't hesitate to do so.

They all talk excitedly, even Lucien who doesn’t know much about the area. It’s all I need to hear to know it was the right choice to make.

Now, if we can not talk about ghosts for one night and just enjoy ourselves, it’ll be perfect. Come breakfast tomorrow, I’m sure we’ll be right back in this world. But for tonight, I refuse.

“Anyone who brings up ghosts has to buy the next round of drinks,” I propose as we stop at the gas station for snacks.

“I’ll take that bet,” Eli says with a laugh as he follows me in. “This is going to be amazing.” Eli holds up a finger, “But I have one question for Lucien?”

At that, Lucien arches a brow, hand hovering over the candy bars, “What’s that?”

“Why are you in a full-ass suit?” he asks.

Lucien glances down at his clothing, “What’s wrong with this?”

I move to his side, “He looks dashing. Right out of a James Bond movie.”

“Thank you, my love,” he says, kissing me on the cheek. “In my time, this was our normal, everyday attire. Your generation dresses for comfort, not style.” His voice is playfully haughty but it has no effect on the others. Jayce and Eli just laugh him off and head toward the checkout. The conversation drops as we pay. Lucien takes the bag and holds an arm out for me, I place mine in his and we are off on our much needed night out.

Eli takes the driver's seat and Jayce calls shotgun. I don’t complain, now I can cozy up to Lucien in the backseat.

“How far is Clinton?” Lucien asks me over the rock music that’s blaring. Jayce is playing air guitar and looking far more carefree than he did this morning.

“Forty minutes give or take,” I reply, “There are more clubs and an actual night scene there. Better for date night than in our little town.”

He laughs, “The little town I was raised in had maybe three hundred people.”

“What was there to do in your town?” I ask him.

“Nothing much, we had chores after school that took until dark or after, and by that time, you were too tired to do anything but eat and crawl in bed. There were a few that still managed the strength to run amuck,” he answers.

“Amuck is a real word?” Jayce asks, looking back at us. “Not just something they made up for the movies?”

“For a smart guy, you don’t have a great vocabulary, do you?” Lucien questions, with a straight face.

I bury my head in his shoulder to try and cover my laugh but Jayce swats my leg, signaling to me I was not successful.

As my laughter subsides, a familiar tune comes on the radio and I lean forward.

“Can you turn it up? I think I know this song,” I tell Jayce.

He nods and obliges.

The words haunt me as I realize where I know this song from. My entire body tenses as the music washes over me.

Lucien must see my expression change, “What’s wrong?”

I swallow hard, “Nothing, just remembered where I knew this song from.”

“Where’s that?” he questions.
