“You want me to come off my medication?” My voice is high-pitched as I contemplate the stupidity of what that may entail. “What about other alphas?”

“Not yet. After you’ve met your potential investor.” He grins.

“An investor?” I shriek.

He nods. “That’s the other thing I wanted to talk to you about. I was so busy wanting to tell you the other news that I nearly forgot.”

I slap his arm. “You nearly forgot about someone who wants to invest in our business?”

A playful grin tugs at the corners of Jake’s lips as he squeezes my hand. “I think I did it. I found an investor for the business.”

I squeal, jumping on his lap in the front seat of the cramped car. I straddle his hips and smile as he looks at me with wide, surprised eyes.

He sighs. “I need you to trust me. Don’t go mad about what I’m about to tell you.”

Trust? I would follow Jake anywhere, do anything for him. But trust is hard when I’m already on the run from my stepfather.

I wait for him to elaborate. I trust him with my life, but he knows my insecurities and normally keeps nothing away from me.

“I do trust you, Jake.”

He nods. “The investor I was telling you about is Professor Baldwin. I was asking him questions after class today. About registering a business and he asked about it?”

I sigh a huge breath of relief. “Okay… and?” I whisper.

“I told him everything about the business we have.”

I nod.

“And he was very surprised at the products, and he asked if he could get involved. He and his pack mate invest in start-up businesses. They’ve turned many businesses around. Made them into household names, and I think he was really keen on your products.”

A pack of alphas.

“Does he know about me?” My teeth chew on my bottom lip as I try to contain the excitement of someone being interested enough to invest in me, but the fear of working with another alpha. “Not that I’m on the run, but that I’m an omega?” I tell Jake.

Jake nods. “He does. But don’t worry about him. He’s really nice. Very chilled, and I’ll be there with you when you meet him.”

“I have to meet him and his pack mate?” I ask, fear evident in my tone.

“Just meet the professor with me for the first time and decide if you like him enough to talk about the business and meet his partner.”

“Okay.”

“You’ll meet him?” he asks, surprise in his tone.

“Yeah.”

“I’m shocked.”

I can’t help but notice the shock on Jake’s face as he looks at me. “Why? I won’t get very far if I turn everyone down.” I shrug my shoulders. “It’s a potential investment opportunity.” I cup his face and slam my mouth on his. “Thank you.”

Jake smiles against my lips.

I’ve wanted him for so long. I’m not waiting any longer. I want him to take me for my first time, to knot me, to make me his.

But will he?

Take me fully as his?
