She sat against the wall on a sheep pelt, her knees pressed to her chest, her skin a beautiful white that I loved to pepper with kisses. There had been so many times I had been close to biting her so she could become a wolf, but Valko always stopped me.

Her matted hair fell around her, the same colour as her lips, and the deep scarlet of the blindfold that I’d never seen her without.

Valko said it was because she would trick me with her magic, but I didn’t believe him.

“Princess, can you hear me?”

I felt like I needed to whisper. I didn’t want Lucien and Valko to find out what I was doing. This was just for us.

Valko got to spend time with her when he brought her back here at night and cleaned her. The last time, he came upstairs with scratches and bruises, snarling that she had almost been freed, even though he smelled of sex and blood. And Lucien was still striding around the den with a grin on his face, occasionally wearing the shirts he fucked her in just to annoy me and Valko, even though our whole den smelled of her anyway.

It was my turn now. My turn to love her.

I relaxed. Just being alone with her was the best thing I could have ever asked for.

I stepped towards her, kneeling down. “I’m going to remove the gag.” I whispered again. “Hold on a second.”

I reached for the material, pulling out as much as I could before it fell from her lips and she was finally free.

“Fillian?” Her voice was hoarse. I sucked in a breath, nerves jumping up to my throat.

“Princess…” I had been waiting to hear her voice for so long that I forgot myself.

I jumped forward, wrapping my arms around her, holding her against my body, wanting to feel her speak.

“Why are you here, Fillian?” she murmured in my ear, the soft lilt of her voice moving through me.

I didn’t think she would sound so fragile. In my mind, she always had a powerful voice.

All this time, so many meetings, and it had taken this long to hear her.

“I wanted to see you.” I pulled back, shifting to stroke her arm, and she trembled at my touch.

“Why not wait until later tonight?” she asked.

“You didn’t want to see me?” I couldn’t hide my disappointment. I didn’t feel her energy as strongly as I normally did. When Valko brought her upstairs, it was like we became part of each other, that our love was eternal. Here, the princesses light was dimmer.

“Of course I want to see you.” She straightened, her body unfolding, moving closer to me. “I just thought Valko would hide the key after Lucien...”

“I stole it,” I said, talking over her.

I pulled back from her, my hands shaking. The thought of Valko being down here every night while I fought with my wild wolf alone in my room had me scowling.

“That is wonderful,” she said as she shook her head. Her voice was soft and gentle, so full of love for me. “It is so wonderful you have come to see me.”

I clutched her upper arms as a huge smile split my face.

It was just us, alone, finally together at last.

My voice was still a whisper, like we were sharing a secret. “I thought…I thought you might be hungry…”

“Oh, Fillian. Do you want to feed me?” she asked, breathless, her voice hushed like mine. I was hardening already, excited at the way she surrounded me, both her scent and her energy.

“Yes, I…I want to give you my blood.” My delight must have shown in my voice, as her lips opened into the most beautiful smile, and then her lower jaw dropped open.

My breath caught in my throat at the sight of them. Two long, curved fangs extended from her upper mouth, sharp, perfect for puncturing my skin. I’d never seen anything like it.

My body froze, before a warm flush rose within me at the simple thought of her drinking me, taking me for herself.
