“What about this, little one?” He asked, and Delilah pouted. “I don’t know. Do you think it’s pretty? I want it to be perfect for tomorrow.”

“I think it looks very adorable, and you would look beautiful in it..” He attempted, and she let out a defeated sigh as she lay back on the bed dramatically.

“I don’t like any of them.” She said dejectedly, and he forced a grin before turning to place them in the closet. I heard him mutter a few things, and I stepped in as he looked to be getting a bit stressed.

“I’ll take it from here, Benjamin.” He looked over his shoulder and genuinely smiled.

“Ms. Newman, I had assumed you weren’t finished making dinner. The little one is having trouble finding an outfit for her big day tomorrow.” He informed me, and I could see the plea for help in his eyes as he may have been going at this for an hour. I nodded my head and went to sit on Delilah’s bed. Pulling her over to me, I placed a few kisses on her cheek, making her giggle and push me away.

“Now, why are you giving Benny trouble finding an outfit, little girl?” She sighed as Benjamin continued going through her closet.

“I just want tomorrow to be perfect,” she confided, and I hummed.

“I’m sure you do, but you know Killy doesn’t care what you look like since you’re already perfect in his mind.” She smiled at my words and gasped when Benjamin came out with another outfit.

“That’s the one! It is! It is!” She exclaimed, bouncing in my lap. I smiled as Benjamin let out a small sigh of relief.

Grabbing her hand, I stood with her and spoke. “Alright, now that that’s out of the way, are you ready for dinner?” I asked, and she nodded her head excitedly. I walked her out of the room, and Benjamin followed behind.

Once I reached the dining room, I quickly tried looking everywhere but at Killian, as I could feel his eyes on me. Sitting beside him, I glanced at him as he gave me a slight wink before looking away. I bit my lip as I scolded myself for staring too long.God, this night is going to be hard to get through…

Killian

Picking up my coffee, I took a sip and continued looking through my emails. Brielle was upstairs with Delilah getting her ready, and Benjamin was in the kitchen doing something I didn’t quite care much about. Since I was going into the office later, Brielle would be filling in for me. To be prepared, I opened the files from her folder and read over what I scheduled her to do for the day..

Ever since last night, she’s been acting different. More than usual per se, and it took her longer to fall asleep. She’s avoided me all morning and been more persistent about me not being too close. Yet, despite her attempting to push me away, to her extremely flushed face, buckling knees, and needy eyes, I could see desire written all over her face.

Hearing a little giggle and the pitter-patter of feet descending the stairs, I turned around and smiled as Delilah came in, all dressed up and bubbly, very excited for the day. I stood up, and she squealed once she saw me. She ran over to me, and I caught her in my arms. Sitting her on my hip, I watched as she greeted me happily.

“Hi, Killy! I’m ready for our day out!” She beamed, and I chuckled, giving her side a little tickle.

“Well, good morning, love. I can tell you’re ready. Give me a spin now, will you?” I requested, and she nodded as I let her down. She turned around once, and I chuckled again. She was in a cream-colored corduroy dress with cute little buttons and bows, along with white stockings and white Mary Jane shoes. Her hair was in a curly half-up, half-down style, and I quickly noticed her diamond earrings that looked well over $2,000. I knew Blaine or Benjamin had something to do with that, but I didn’t say anything.

“Gosh, sweetheart, you look beautiful,” I admitted, and she blushed slightly.

“You really think so?” I chuckled.

“Of course, I do,” I replied, and she thanked me and skipped off to the kitchen as Benjamin called her in for breakfast. Brielle walked into the room and stopped in the middle of the floor as she made eye contact with me. She was in a white pencil skirt with sage green platform heels and a sage green long sleeve. She’d straightened her hair; unlike most times, it was down her back…She knows I love it when she has her hair down.

“Good morning, Killian,” she greeted, and I leaned against the table as I responded.

“Good morning to you, Brielle. Nathan will be with you at the office today..”

She sighed. “Is he going to follow me around when I attend the meetings?”

“I had planned for him to do so, yes.” She nodded and walked over to the table.

“I guess that’s okay..” I furrowed my eyebrows and looked over at her as she sat down and ate her breakfast.

“That’s it? You’re not going to get upset that I have you under surveillance until I come back?” She shrugged her shoulders.

“I’m always under surveillance, Killian. There’s no reason to get into a discussion about it all the time..” I looked away for a split second as I thought to myself once again. She also seems rather.. compliant today..

George walked into the room and nodded at both of us as he said good morning.

“Sir, your car is parked in your garage, and miss, I am ready to depart when you are.” She nodded, and Delilah came over to me and grabbed my hand. Getting all my things, we headed to the elevator after bidding goodbye to everyone. Pressing the button for the garage, I looked down to see Delilah with a slight pout on her face.

“What’s wrong, sweetheart?” I asked, and she responded as she looked up at me.
