“Miss… I was just preparing for dinner. Is something the mat-” I cut him off.

“Why would you tell Delilah not to bother me and Killian?” I already knew what the answer was, but I wanted to know what his reasoning would be.

“You two.. looked like you needed some time alone to resolve your conflict-”

“But that doesn’t mean we’re having sex!” I almost exclaimed, and he shrugged as he went over to the fridge.

“I was just preparing the young girl. Giving her slight pointers about when and when not to enter Mummy and Daddy’s room.”

“Reginald… I can’t even…” I began, unable to form words. He remained silent as I walked to the living room and sat on the couch. I listened to the crackle of the burning fire as I looked outside the window to see tiny droplets of rain falling.

Hearing the door open, I turned to see Blaine, who walked over to the living room and sat. I giggled softly and tilted my head.

“Well, hello to you, too.” He sighed and shook his head.

“Sorry. I’m just mentally trying to prepare myself for the rest of the week.” I nodded as I understood why he must’ve been a little tired. Frederick will be handing over his company to Killian in a week’s time, and there are a lot of preparations to be made. Since Killian and Blaine have ties between their businesses, managing the transitions would be challenging.

Hearing another set of footsteps, I looked over my shoulder to see Killian walking into the room. He sat beside me, and I rolled my eyes as he lifted my legs and laid them across his thighs. He rubbed my knee with one hand, and Blaine pouted as he crossed his arms.

“You guys are gross.” He said childishly, and Killian sighed.

“You’re just in a mood right now, Blaine. Go into the kitchen and feel better.”

Blaine stood up and huffed. “I am not in a mood. I am also not going to the kitchen because you asked me to but because I want to,” he declared as he walked off. I looked over to Killian to see him already staring at me.

“Are you still angry with me?” He asked, and I shook my head. He dragged his hand up and down my thigh, and I spoke.

“Are you ready for our long day of meetings tomorrow?”

He groaned in response. “Don’t remind me. It’s bad enough my father will attend some of them, and I’ll have to deal with the foolishness of everyone there, including him.” I sighed as I moved more into his lap and laid my head on his shoulder, knowing it would keep him calm if I did.

“Killian, your father only wants the best for you.”

“Correction. My father wants the best for me if I can help him succeed. Under his exterior, he may actually care, but I know him like the back of my hand.”

“I’m sure you do,” I smiled softly, watching Delilah walk down the stairs and into the kitchen with Reginald following.

“I should go help him finish up dinner. I’ll also send Blaine out of the kitchen since he won’t be much help.” I made a move to stand up, but he pulled me back onto his lap. I turned to question him when I felt his head lay on my shoulder, and he sighed.

“Don’t get up. Don’t leave me,”He mumbled, and I giggled, looking down at him. “I want to go help Reginald with dinner.”

“He doesn’t need any help. Even though his cooking is mediocre, it’s still edible.”

I slapped his arm. “You’re so mean. I happen to like Reginald’s cooking.”

He sighed. “Ever since you first cooked for me, I haven’t enjoyed the food from other people as much as I used to. If it makes you feel any better, Reginald’s cooking is just okay. Now stop talking.” I felt his hand rub my thigh, and I leaned my head on top of his and closed my eyes as I enjoyed the feeling of him being near me, even if it was only for a little while.

Omniscient

Brielle walked down the stairs, fully dressed in her work attire, to see Killian sitting at the table, drinking a cup of coffee and going over some files and contracts that needed to be reviewed for today. She walked over to her seat beside him and glanced over at some of the files he had set aside. Reginald exited the kitchen and placed both plates before them while saying ‘good morning.’ Brielle said it back, but Killian only nodded his head in acknowledgment. Taking a bite of her eggs, Brielle turned to Killian.

“You know Christmas is around the corner, right?” She asked, and Killian didn’t say anything. He simply shifted his eyes over to her slowly as if saying continue.

“I was thinking we could do something. You know, like we did for Thanksgiving.” He sighed as he couldn’t exactly voice his opinion on the subject of holidays because he had done so numerous times already and was ultimately unsuccessful in changing Brielle’s mind. Shrugging his shoulders, he turned back to his files.

“I will consider it.” Brielle smiled happily as she knew that was the best she was getting from him for the moment, and she was happy with his answer nonetheless. Killian internally smirked as he could see and feel her excitement, but it was gone as quickly as it came when he heard the front door open, knowing it must’ve been Blaine or his father. He wasn’t expecting, however, the sound of a little girl speaking Japanese.

“Is this Mr. Russel’s home?”She asked, and Blaine responded in Japanese as well.
