“It sure is. You’ll get to see him and his wife before I leave you here with their daughter. We have meetings with your father all day.”Killian and Brielle listened as the two walked towards the kitchen.

“D-do you think she will like me?”The little girl asked, and Blaine responded.

“Of course, she will. I’m sure you two will become the best of friends.”

They entered the kitchen, and Killian stood up. “Do you really think it’s wise to tell Masahiko’s daughter that Brielle is my wife?” Brielle’s eyes widened slightly, but she didn’t say anything as she kept her eyes trained on the curious little girl.

“She won’t say a word,” Blaine assured, a bit unsure, and they heard footsteps coming in from the living room. Delilah made her appearance and kept her eyes trained on the little girl. Blaine stepped in between them as they faced each other and bent down.

“Dede, sweetie, this is Kimiko. Remember the little girl I told you about over the phone coming to keep you company? This is her. And Kimi, this is Delilah. She will keep you company while your father is busy.”The two girls nodded their heads as he communicated to both of them, and Kimiko was the first to speak.

“Hi..” She said shyly, and Delilah responded timidly as well.

“Hi… do you want to play with me?” Only knowing a little English, Kimiko looked over to Blaine for reassurance, and he nodded.

“O-ok,” Delilah showed Kimiko out of the room and up to hers as Blaine wiped away his fake tears.

“Isn’t it beautiful? They’re already the best of friends. My little Moana and Mulan.” Killian rolled his eyes at Blaine as he spoke.

“Blaine. It pays to be silent sometimes. If you keep your mouth shut, you won’t offend anyone.” He muttered and looked down at his watch as he continued. “We need to get going. Our first meeting starts in thirty.” Brielle nodded as she finished, and soon, they arrived at Killian’s building.

Going to the top floor, the three walked into Killian’s office. Upon opening the door, Mr. Masahiko and Frederick both turned in their chairs and made eye contact with them.

Frederick stood up. “It’s about time you showed up. I was starting to think you were second-guessing your abilities to take over my business..” He concluded with a slight smirk, and Killian’s temper started to show as he tilted his head emotionlessly and began taking steps towards his father.

Mr. Masahiko was already looking for ways to exit the room quickly without getting hurt. However, Brielle discreetly grabbed Killian’s hand and opened his clenched fist, making him relax. Frederick noticed the little gesture but didn’t say anything.

As Killian clenched his jaw slightly, he spoke. “Not at all, Frederick.. I’m ready to begin when you are.”

Chapter forty-eight

Brielle

After a long week and a half worth of meetings, arguments, persuading, contract signing, etc., I was relieved that it was finally the night of the gala for Killian to inherit his father’s business and accomplish his goal of becoming the wealthiest man in the world. I couldn’t wait for it to be over so that I could stop looking over my shoulder to see if he kept his hands to himself and wasn’t strangling anyone.

Sitting on the floor in front of my body mirror, I started curling my hair. I had a couple of hours to spare, but it wasn’t nearly enough to prepare everything I needed to do. As I stared at myself in the mirror, I continued having an inner battle in my mind as I had done earlier.. debating whether or not to tell Killian that I loved him. It was all that was on my mind and was essentially slowing me down as I wasn’t able to think straight.

Finishing my hair, I looked as it fell down to my tailbone and sighed. Deciding to put it in an updo, I went to the bathroom and grabbed all of the bobby pins and rubber bands I could find. I went back to sitting in front of my mirror when the sound of the door opening and a fit of giggles made me jump. Looking back, I smiled as Delilah and Kimiko came in, bouncing up and down. Delilah ran over to me, and I quickly caught her in my arms to avoid her getting hurt accidentally.

“Mommy, guess what?!” She screamed, and I shushed her softly while laughing.

“What is it, baby? And remember inside voices.” Kimiko came over as well and sat on my other lap.

“Tell her! Tell her!”She spoke happily in Japanese, and Delilah sighed.

“You didn’t even let me speak yet, Kimi.” I glanced between the two girls in utter confusion.

“How did-” I began, and Delilah cut me off as she continued.

“Daddy said I could go over to Kimi’s house and have a sleepover!” I tilted my head. I knew Mr. Masahiko had a home in the UK, but I didn’t think Killian would agree to them having a sleepover.

“He did?” I asked, and Delilah nodded.

“I’m even taking Regi with me so he can watch us too!” Just then, there was a heavy sigh, and I looked over my shoulder to see Reginald at the door with three suitcases.

He groaned, “Never should a child have this many suitcases for one night.”

“Well, we don’t know if it’s just one night. My daddy said he doesn’t mind if she stays longer,”Kimiko shrugged, and Delilah nodded as she spoke.
