“It’s fine, really.. Eventually, this will all blow over, and we’ll be back to normal.” Killian concluded, and Frederick nodded.

“I sure hope you’re right. I would hate for her to continue ignoring you.” Killian scoffed, trying to mask his worry, but it was clear that it was forced.

“No… No.. This is temporary.” He responded as he rubbed his neck nervously, looking in the direction she walked while Fredrick gave him fake looks of encouragement.

A few moments passed, and Killian cleared his throat. “Excuse me,” He uttered and walked out of the room.

Eleanor stood up angrily. “Alright. I have had enough of this. It’s bad enough that my son is suffering, and his father is consistently making it worse for him. We have to find a way to make some sort of progress today.”

Eugene nodded his head as he finished taking a sip of his coffee. “I’ll talk to her.”

Frederick sighed. “It’s a shame, really.. I was actually starting to enjoy this trip.” Ignoring the man, Eugene walked out of the kitchen only to see Killian coming his way.

“So she starts talking to Blaine again but won’t even spare me a fucking glance.” He chuckled humorlessly and pointed his finger at Eugene.

“You better fix this, or I might kill you..” He warned as he walked up the stairs. Taking his threat somewhat seriously, Eugene walked slowly into the living room to see Brielle sitting on the corner of the couch with her head resting on her arms. Sitting on the other sofa, Brielle looked over at him discreetly before looking back. He cleared his throat and spoke.

“Brielle…” Not knowing where to start, he blurted out the first thing that came to mind.

“I’m sorry… I’m sorry for not being there for you. I’m sorry for leaving you with those people. I’m sorry for keeping so many secrets from you.. I’m also deeply sorry.. for not being the big brother I was supposed to be. Protecting you, supporting you, loving you…” He sighed, attempting to hold his own tears back as they began to form.

“I know you must be pissed at me, and I understand you might never want to see me again, but I just wanted you to hear my apology first. There are so many things you don’t know about our family, and I need to tell you before it breaks you later when you find out. So, please give me a chance.. to explain myself, to explain everything.”

Brielle listened to every word he spoke, and it took her a minute to process it all. A good three minutes passed, and Eugene was starting to believe they wouldn’t get anywhere. With his head down, he didn’t expect to hear a small sniffle. Looking up, he watched as Brielle stared at him with tears in her eyes and a sad smile on her face.

“..I was never ready for you to leave..”

Eugene quickly got off his chair and went over to the couch she was sitting on. He grabbed her hand in his, “Brielle. Trust me. If I were given a choice to stay, I would’ve done it in a heartbeat. Don’t think for a second that this was a decision I willingly made myself.”

Brielle nodded her head as she wiped her face. Feeling his hand touch hers after so long was a strange feeling. Something that she’d missed for a long time.

“Are you going to tell me everything?” She asked, and he sighed.

“Yes, I will… I will make sure to explain every single detail that needs to be told, but I can’t promise that any of these won’t make you cry or break down. There are secrets that I tried running from, tried to escape… but for the most part, I wasn’t successful. When I do tell you, I won’t hold back.” He anxiously waited for her to respond, and she looked down for a moment, deciding whether or not she should accept his full apology. Knowing she would feel better if she did, she whispered softly.

“You’re such an idiot.” Hearing those words, Eugene believed he was slightly forgiven as he pulled her in for a bone-crushing hug.

Trying to restrain himself from crying, he muttered his following words. “I love you so much.”

“I love you, too…” She answered, and they both stayed still for a while. Pulling away from him, Brielle placed her hands in her lap.

“I’m still very angry with you.. The only difference is now I won’t try to ignore or attack you… and you have now gained speaking privileges.” Eugene nodded with a smile.

“Well, I guess it’s a start.” Brielle nodded. “It sure is.”

“Can you do me a favor?” He asked and Brielle hummed.

“Can you please talk to Killian? I was just threatened by him a few minutes ago, and the man is barely a shell of who he was the day before yesterday,” Brielle giggled.

“I’ll talk to him..I just want to see how long he’s gonna hold up.”

Killian looked down at the magazine, slightly agitated, as he tapped on his knee, trying to compose himself. It was the next day, and Brielle was still doing the uttermost to show him no emotion. He knew she was teaching him a lesson, but as time went by, he began to notice how lost he was without her. Placing the magazine down, he groaned.

“This isn’t making things better, Killian..” He muttered as he hadn’t exactly turned the page for the last ten minutes, which held a rather seductive and alluring photo of Brielle. She looked beautiful as usual, and he couldn’t take his eyes off of her figure, which was complemented by the thin fabric she’d complained about previously on the day of the shoot.

The entire page was filled with facts and such about her, but Killian didn’t need to read it as he knew most of them already. Leaning back against the steps he was sitting on, he listened as tiny paws went across the floor, and he watched as Delilah’s new puppy came over to his feet. He paid it no mind, though he could sense it wanted his attention.

“Isn’t it bad enough that I accepted the fact that you exist? Why must you bother me more?” He questioned, and the puppy ignored him as it continued. Hearing the clicks of heels, Killian looked up as Brielle walked into the room. She had on a shoulderless white dress and a pair of red pumps. Her hair was pulled in a ponytail, but a few strands were hanging in front. The puppy walked into the other room, leaving the two of them together.
