“H-hi, can I speak to Brib-….. Ms. Newman, please.”My eyes went wide.

“Delilah?” I heard her gasp.

“BRIBRI!!”

“Hi, sweetheart.”

“Hi, Bribri! I found this number on the dresser next to your other papers. D-did you get the job?”I smiled at her cuteness, slightly wondering how she had been transferred to my office phone.

“I did, baby,”I responded and heard a voice speak in the background.

“You owe me ten bucks, kid.”

“Oh, shush!”She whispered, and I cleared my throat.

“Sweetie, who was that?”

“It’s just Mr. Burkley. I didn’t want you to get the job at first since you wouldn’t be home, but I changed my mind.”

“And why is that baby?”

“Because you’re with Killy!!” She giggled, and my eyebrows furrowed in confusion.

“How do you know that?”

“Mr. Burkley told me,”I hummed as I spoke to her, but I had the urge to break the pencil I was threading between my fingers.

“Could you pass Mr. Burkley the phone, baby?”

“Burky! Bribri wants to talk to you. Stop shaking your head!!” I felt someone looking at me, and I looked up to see Killian staring at me through the glass as he sat with one leg crossed over the other.

“Um, baby, I gotta go. Tell Burky I’ll be coming for him.”I put the phone on the receiver and looked back at him. I blushed as he made a ‘come here’ motion with his two fingers. Standing up, I walked out of my office.

“Y-yes, Mr.Russel?”

“I assume you know my personal driver, George, correct?” I nodded my head.

“Yes.”

“Well, I arrive and leave the building earlier and later than you do. So I decided to give George the position of also being your driver.” I bit my lip.

“That won’t be necessary, sir... I could just take the bus or a taxi.” He returned to his computer, dismissing me with his body language, though he seemed to tense up slightly at my words.

“He’ll be ready for you at 6:30.”

“B-but-”

“Ms. Newman. Get back to work.” He muttered, and I crossed my arms and walked to the door, annoyed. As I walked away semi-angrily, I could hear him chuckling softly.

A few hours passed, and I was finished with all of my work. Setting the files on Killian’s desk, I looked at the clock, which read 6:30 PM. Walking towards the door as I held my things, I stopped as Killian walked through it. It seemed we were only a foot apart, and my face reddened as I tried to ignore it. He looked me up and down before breathing in slightly and speaking.

“Until tomorrow, Ms. Newman.”

I cleared my throat. “Until then, Mr. Russel.” He stepped out of the way and watched as I exited the office and to the elevator. When the doors closed, I let out a breath I didn’t even know I was holding. As I made my way out of the building, I strolled down the sidewalk and looked for a cab-

“Ms. Newman,” I jumped and turned around to see George. I’d seemed to have completely forgotten about him.

“O-oh. Hi George.”
