“I have the car pulled up in front, miss.”

“Alright.” I followed him to the car, and he opened the back door for me. I got in as I, thanked him, and looked around. It was the typical setup for an expensive car, but Killian seemed to have a preference for a darker aesthetic.

“On the seat, you will see two white boxes. Those are the work utilities that Mr. Russel has left for you. He suggests that you open them and set them up so you’re prepared for tomorrow,” George spoke, bringing me out of my thoughts. I nodded as I grabbed the boxes and sat them on my lap. We arrived at my apartment, and I stepped out and grabbed my things.

“Thank you, George.”

“No problem, miss. I’ll be here at 7:45 tomorrow morning to pick you up.” I gave him a tight-lipped smile.

“Right then..” Waving goodbye, I walked into my building. I reached my door and unlocked it with my key. After placing my things down, I felt a tiny body tackle me.

“BRIBRI BRIBRI BRIBRI!!! YOU’RE HOME!!!” I giggled and smothered her face with kisses.

“I am, baby. How was your day?” I asked as I sat with her on the couch.

“Good! All the kids at dance class today missed you.” She pouted, and I smiled.

“Sweetie, once I get a clear schedule, I’ll be able to teach classes again, but for now, Auntie has to lay low.” She nodded her head and leaned into my ear, giggling.

“Burky’s hiding in the bathroom.” Setting her down on the couch, I quickly marched to the bathroom. I slammed the door open, and he jumped and screamed as he hopped around and faced me.

“My darling girl Brielle! How are you, sweetheart? Hehe….How are…you.” He started to trail off as I walked towards him menacingly. Grabbing him by the ear, I dragged him out of the bathroom.

“Ow ow! Okay, WOW, this hurts,” He complained, and I pushed him onto the couch. He knew Killian was the company’s owner and my soon-to-be new boss, but he said absolutely nothing as he practically forced me into this situation!

“Okay, I can explain myself.” He raised his hands in surrender.

“But first-” He used one of his hands to point to the kitchen.

“I have white chocolate macadamia nut cookies and white chocolate ganache dip on the kitchen counter waiting for you.” I crossed my arms at the rather tempting distraction.

“Extra chocolate?” I asked, and he nodded frantically. I rubbed my lips together. “Vanilla almond milk?” I pressed further, and he spoke.

“It wouldn’t be me if I didn’t get some extra vanilla almond milk.” I grabbed Delilah, who was laughing at the whole ordeal and set her on my hip.

“Let’s go,” I spoke, and he hopped up excitedly as we made our way to the cookies in the kitchen.

Chapter seven

Killian

Stepping out of my car as George held the door open for me, I noticed the sun had already set, and the stars filled the night sky. Going through my garage, I went up to my penthouse through my elevator. Once the doors opened, I walked inside and put my briefcase on the counter. Yet, I sighed as I could feel hispresence in my living room. Removing my suit jacket, I walked back to the foyer.

“What are you doing in my home, Blaine?” I rounded the corner, and he tsked as I placed my jacket on the sofa.

“How the hell do you do that without even seeing me?”

“Because the presence of your soul annoys mine to the fullest extent possible. So much that I can sense when you’re around.”

“Ouch! I’m sure someone might’ve found that offensive.” He joked, and I looked up to see him smirking as he sipped the glass scotch he had placed in his hand. I walked over to the couch and sat across from him. Pouring myself a glass as well, I took a sip and leaned back as he kept his eyes trained on me.

“Can I help you with something?” I asked after a few seconds.

“Anything new going on… pal?” He questioned, and I rolled my eyes. He always used the word ‘pal’ or ‘old friend’ when he was ‘on to me’ as he liked to put it.

“Not that I’m aware of.”

“Benjamin was right. You do seem distracted.”
