“For as long as I can remember, I’ve envied Brielle…. Better grades, better looks, personality. I remember how badly I wanted her to fail, and eventually, I pushed her so much that she did. So much that I wanted to see her fail again, and I left her with a baby to fend for herself. I thought my life was complete. We had the money, she took the burden… everything was perfect… Until you decided to show up.” She snarled, and Killian continued to listen.

“This is all your fucking fault! All of you!!”She screamed, and Killian shook his head.

“Don’t blame your wrongdoings and poor planning on us, love.. This would’ve happened soon enough regardless of whether we were here or not.” In the midst of the heated discussion, Calvin managed to slip out of the room and enter his office. Looking around, he noticed Brielle sitting on the couch, and he smiled as he walked toward her.

“Oh, my darling Brielle…. Do tell why Killian has moved you away from your family… I would love to know..” She looked over at him as he took a seat on the couch across from her. Crossing one leg over the other, she sighed. “Apparently, I’m too moody today, as he puts it…”

“Well, what exactly happened? If you don’t mind me asking, of course…” She bit her lip sheepishly, and Calvin tilted his head.

“.. I might have thrown my heels at Eugene for telling me why he’s been gone for two days andalmosttackled him.”

Calvin hummed. “Interesting…” He pressed the intercom by his desk and spoke into it. “Pierce, do me a favor and prepare some tea for my guest. Thank you.” Brielle stared at him as he spoke and looked away for a moment.

“So, what’s going on now?” She asked, and he replied.

“I would assume Killian is in the process of explaining what he has planned for your family…” He explained as Piece entered the room and set the refreshments on the table before he left. Brielle took a cup, and Calvin poured her some from the teapot.

“You know you’re one of the last people I actually wanted to talk to today,” she admitted as she took a sip. Calvin pouted childishly as he finished pouring himself a cup as well.

“And why is that?”

Setting the tea down, she folded her hands. “You basically kidnapped my baby along with Benjamin.” Calvin chuckled as he looked away. “Still on matters that occurred weeks ago? Why not let it go? It’s in the past, is it not?”

“Calvin. You kidnapped my daughter,” Brielle seethed, feeling angrier, and he sighed.

“And I did it for good reason-” She cut him off. “So she could meet your son?” She spoke, making him bite his tongue.

“Hmmm… So, the kitten does speak. After she met him, I didn’t hear a word from her.”

“She told me she was petrified of the boy! Of course, you didn’t hear a word from her. I don’t know what you were trying to accomplish, but I don’t want anything like that happening again. Ever.”

“Brielle, within that fifteen minutes with Delilah, I accomplished many things… things that will prevail soon enough in the future, but for now, let’s enjoy the peace that is to come. And let’s not be too rash—they could become good friends, you know?” Brielle took another sip of her tea.

Calvin continued. “On an unrelated note.. am I invited to the wedding?”

“Why on Earth would I, or better yet, Killian, invite you to our wedding, which is not even happening yet? Isn’t it clear that he doesn’t actually favor you much?”

“Yes, and that is something I am soon coming to terms with, but that doesn’t mean you can’t invite me.. besides, you’ll owe me for keeping a secret that you have yet to tell Killian.”

“What secret?” She asked him, and he hummed.

“Wouldn’t you like to know?” Furrowing her eyebrows, she saw a glint in his eyes that didn’t sit well with her. Taking a sip of his tea, he spoke as he set it down.

“So, how long have you been pregnant?”

Chapter sixty

Brielle

“So, how long have you been pregnant?” I didn’t say anything for a moment, but I could feel my heart beating faster in my chest. I laughed a bit nervously as Calvin’s eyes never left mine.

“What are you talking about? I’m not pregnant…”

Calvin gave a shrug. “You say one thing, but your eyes and body language say another…. Does Killian know?” He asked, as he most likely already had his answer. I looked away from him and shrugged my shoulders.

“Of course, he doesn’t know because I’m not pregnant.” He stood up and fixed his suit. My eyes watched him carefully, and he looked over to me again.

“Well, since you’re still in the fazes of denial, maybe I should be the one to tell him.” Before he made his way to the door, I grabbed his arm out of reflex and gulped softly. He gazed down at me knowingly, and I bit my lip.
