“Well, we’ll get out of your hair now. I’m sure you want to enjoy your time with your husband.” Brielle nodded but gave them a pleading look as she spoke.

“Please stay.” They knew her words had a deeper meaning than staying at the party. Her grandmother nodded her head.

“We will.” She walked over to the door and stepped out. She started walking back to the reception, and Killian made a move to leave, but he heard muttering.

“She deserves to know, Raymond! She deserves to know about her mother-”

“And what do we tell her, Jamie? That she may be out there somewhere? That we don’t know if she’s alive or not? That will give her false hope, and after what’s happened in these last few months, this is the last thing she needs to have on her mind.”

“But it’s not right. Keeping her in the dark like this..”

“I understand, but please, love, don’t make this hard for her. Let her enjoy her wedding day. We’ll tell her soon enough.” She nodded, and Killian walked away, deciding he’d heard enough. He ran his hands down his face in distress and heard footsteps coming towards him.

“I’m guessing we both just heard something that we probably shouldn’t have..” Blaine spoke, and Killian looked over to him.

“It’s like every step we take forward, we learn something and take fucking five steps back.”

“Before you think about doing anything, wait. Don’t act impulsively. Give her time to process everything today.” Killian nodded his head, and they made their way back to the reception.

Eventually, the night came to an end, and Brielle and Killian had taken a flight on their honeymoon to Fiji. Upon arrival, Killian took her onto his boat to drive to their secluded island. Entering the home, Brielle threw herself onto their bed and closed her eyes. Killian chuckled as he removed his suit jacket and shirt, leaving his chest bare. Walking over to Brielle, he undid her sandals and put them on the ground. He crawled onto the bed and placed a kiss on her head.

“Hmmm?” She hummed without opening her eyes.

“I’m going to prepare us a bath, meaning you’ll have to get up when I’m done.” She pouted.

“Don’t wanna.. tired,” She mumbled, and Killian sat up as he ran his hands over her hips. He knew she was exhausted.. from a week of organizing preparations to the wedding itself to the 22-hour flight they had just taken.

“I know, darling, but this bath will relax your muscles, allowing you to sleep better.” She sighed and spoke.

“Well, hurry up then.” He chuckled again and went to the bathroom to start the bath. Once it was finished, he helped Brielle undress and entered the tub with her. Brielle rested her head on his shoulder as he washed her body. Pushing the hair out of her face, he placed a small kiss on her lips before he pulled away.

“I love you..” He whispered to her, and she responded softly.

“I love you.”

Chapter sixty-five

Many Months Later

Brielle walked into Delilah’s room to see Killian lying on her bed as the little girl cuddled into his side. She smiled as she watched him coo to their baby boy, Zachary. As she entered, she listened to his whispers.

“You’re going to break hearts one day, I know it, but you’ll have to grow out of that quickly. One thing you need to do is make sure no one breaks your big sister’s heart. You need to worry about and protect her and Mommy’s hearts. You’re going to be just like a little me… Together, we could be unstoppable, you know?”

Zachary bobbed his little head, and Killian smiled. “Oh yes, we will.”

“Killian, don’t you think he’s a little young to be thinking about world domination already?” Brielle asked, and Killian looked over to his wife.

“Of course not. We need to prepare the children while they’re young. Delilah is already ready.” Brielle rolled her eyes and took a seat beside them. She caressed Delilah’s hair, and the little girl leaned into her touch.

Killian sat up slowly, noticing Brielle’s eyes looking rather sad. “Are you sure you’re ready for her to go?” He said, referring to the first day of school. Brielle felt her heart clench but put up a smile.

“Of course I am…”

“We don’t have to put a rush on things. Her placement test for first grade isn’t until next month..” Brielle shook her head as she smiled. With all of the practice and studying she did with Benjamin, they’d been notified that she was potentially ready for a higher grade level, as was her partner in crime, Kimiko.

“You already went through so much so she and Kimi could go early for the placement test. I want her to get accustomed to the school in case she believes the first-grade class is too hard. She’s excited to go as well..” She whispered softly, and Killian sighed.

“Sweetheart..” He said knowingly. She picked up Zachary from him and cradled him in her arms as he slowly drifted off into sleep.
