“…Why?” Delilah asked, and Brielle smiled as she wiped a few of Delilah’s tears away.

“Because it’s your birthday, baby.”

“…Really?” She asked again as if she wasn’t sure, and Brielle giggled.

“Yes, baby, really.” Delilah’s eyes created even more tears, and she hugged Brielle with her tiny arms.

“T-thank you,” She cried with a slight hiccup, and everyone in the room audibly awwed. Brielle kept in her tears and grinned as she hugged her back.

“You should really be telling Killy thank you,” Brielle said softly. Delilah pulled away and walked over to Killian, holding her arms out and latching onto his leg.

“T-thank you, Killy.” Killian smiled as he petted her hair softly, actively trying to mask the fact that he didn’t know what to do at this point, as he’d never seen the little girl cry.

“You’re welcome, sweetheart.. No need to cry.” Everyone in the room laughed with him, and Princess Aurora walked over to the small girl with a crown. Crouching down, she tapped the little girl’s shoulder twice, and Delilah looked up.

“Sleeping beauty?” She whispered softly, and the woman gave a magical giggle.

“I think this belongs to you.” She smiled as she placed the crown on Delilah’s head, who giggled in return. Madam A walked over to Brielle, who was now standing and had a small tear roll down her cheek.Standing beside her, she spoke.

“Even if you can’t realize it, you’ve done an outstanding job raising that beautiful little girl.”

Brielle walked outside the building for some fresh air and sat on the expensive marble steps to clear her mind. She looked off into the city and sighed as she roamed her thoughts.

She was happy her little baby could have the party of her dreams, and from the look on her face, she still couldn’t even believe it was her party. She was happy that Delilah could experience this, but she was upset because, once again, Killian was responsible for it.

He was responsible for almost everything in their lives, and she didn’t want Delilah to get too used to it, as she didn’t know how long it would last. She felt she needed to enjoy it herself, but she couldn’t. It was difficult to accept this much assistance, money, or this new lifestyle all at once from Killian. Especially knowing he had the power to take it all away in a split second if he deemed it necessary.

After bringing herself back to reality, she noticed someone standing by the stairs in a hoodie facing the side. She could hear him mumbling as if he was arguing with someone, but she thought nothing of it as she called out to him.

“Hi… is everything okay?” She asked cautiously, and the man froze.

“Everything is… fine”, He replied, and she immediately recognized his voice.

“You know, if you’re trying to stalk me, you aren’t doing a very good job.” She joked, and the man smiled as he shook his head.

“The first time we met, we bumped into each other. The next time, you sat at my table.. If anything, you may be stalking me.”

“Not true.” Brielle smiled, and the man shrugged.

“If you say so…. you look pretty down.”

“Not so much. I’m mainly happy.”

“I wish I were still happy,” he whispered, and Brielle bit her lip before speaking again.

“Why aren’t you happy… If that’s too personal, I understand.” She asked, curious about the man she kept seeing, and he shook his head.

“…When you’re gone for so long.. your only family starts to forget you. They grow older, find new people to love.. and eventually, you just become a memory. And no matter how much you’ve tried to come back, no matter how much you’ve wanted to get into their life again… There’s always that person orvoicethat says you are not worth their time anymore, or it’s best if you stay away because of some..issues.Eventually, I plan on becoming happy once again. I just need a little more time and help before returning to them..”

Brielle nodded as she listened to him. She could tell he had missed his family, and based on that similarity alone, she could connect with him.

Hearing someone open the door and call for her, she turned and noticed it was one of the girls from the studio. She let the young girl know she’d be in soon, and the door closed. She looked back in the direction of the man, but once again.. he was gone.

Brielle moved the hair from Delilah’s face as she lay in bed with sleepy eyes.

“Did you enjoy your day, baby?” Brielle asked, and the little girl nodded.

“It was the bestest… but Bribri”, Brielle hummed, and Delilah opened her eyes even more.
