“I’d say the same for you, my friend.”

“So what’s the plan?” I asked, turning to look at him.

“Well, our suspicions were correct. He is staying in an abandoned warehouse outside of the city, and we have his exact location where he’s been for the past few days.”

“When do you suggest we go?” I questioned, and he shook his head.

“We are not going anywhere. You are.”

“You’ve got to be kidding me. What’s your excuse for not going to see him now?”

He sighed. “My part in the plan is mission control.” He stated as if it was the most normal thing to say.

“We’re going to see Brielle’s brother, Blaine, not flying a fucking spaceship.” I asserted, and he leaned back in the chair as he continued looking at me.

“You’ll be fine, Killian. Besides, you’re better at this sort of thing than I’ll ever be.” He reasoned, and I shrugged. “I guess you have a point.”

He grinned and continued, “Of course I do. Now, off you go. We only have so much time.” I nodded and walked towards the elevator down to the garage. Placing my thumb on the scanner, it opened, and I stepped in to see all five of my personally designed cars parked in their spots.

After deciding on my black Porsche, I got in and began looking up the directions to Eugene’s whereabouts. I placed my earpiece in my ear and pulled off as the garage doors opened. After about thirty minutes, I reached the destination and looked around. I stepped out of the car and spoke to Blaine.

“I’m outside the building, and there’s not exactly a door to knock on or a bell to ring,” I disclosed as the doorway was open, giving a full view of the inside. The area was deserted, as if no one had been here in decades, and the few buildings there didn’t seem to be in any better condition.

“Have a look around. See if anyone’s been there. It’s the only lead we have currently.”I skimmed the area, and my eyes spotted a black circle with a blinking red light. I looked closer and noticed it was a camera.

“Yeah. Someone’s definitely been here.” I muttered, walking into the building. I looked around and tried to block the dust from entering my system by waving my arms. There wasn’t much on the ground floor. As I continued examining the area, I froze in my spot as I heard a few silent growls.

Looking over my shoulder, I made eye contact with two rottweilers stalking toward me with an extremely loose piece of rope connected to their collars. They didn’t look malnourished, giving me another sign that someone might be here feeding them. They stalked a bit closer as if they were getting ready to attack and growled even louder.

“Were you aware that he may have owned two ferocious dogs that aren’t people-friendly?”I asked Blaine.

“Not at all. Just growl back or something. We don’t have much time to deal with dogs.”I took his advice and stepped forward as I growled a little louder than them. They took a step back, and I growled a bit louder, making them come to a complete stop.

“You know, I didn’t think that was actually going to help. I just wanted to see if you’d actually do it.”I listened as Blaine laughed in my ear. Ignoring him, I made my way to the stairs and walked up. Looking around, I stopped as I heard a voice.

“Stop talking. No one’s listening to you.”I reached the top of the stairs and saw a man sitting in front of a desk. He had his hands on his head, gripping his hair. Looking around the room for a split second, I noticed a small cot with a pile of clothes in a box next to it, a table filled with money, a few guns on the floor, and a wall with many photographs, mainly of Brielle and Delilah. I instantly knew who sat before me, and I took caution when he stood up and ran his hands down his face. He picked up a few papers from the table and sighed.

“I don’t need your suggestions, so there’s no point in saying anything.”I watched as he spoke again, as if another person was in the room, and I cleared my throat.

“Eugene Newman..” He stopped what he was doing and looked over at me. He smiled and dropped the papers on the table.

“Well… it’s about time you found me.”

Chapter thirty-nine

Killian

“Well… it’s about time you found me.” He leaned back on the desk, and I folded my arms at his rather smug attitude.“And why do you say that?”

“Simple. I want to keep you and your friend out of my life, so what better way to tell you than to bring you to me?”

“You think I’m here to ask you a few simple questions?” I questioned sarcastically, and he chuckled.

“No, but I know you’re trying to get involved with my and Brielle’s life, and I want you to stay out of it.”

“You mean like how you’ve stayed out of her life for the past few years?” I asked, tilting my head, and his glare intensified.

“I have my reasons.. now I’m going to politely ask you to leave and act like none of this ever happened.”
