“…Precisely.”

“And you really think I’m capable of sitting in front of 20 to 30 men by myself, giving orders, and doing your job?” She asked, and I nodded.

“I think you’re more than capable of doing those tasks. You know the company almost as well as I do.”

“You’re delusional.”

“We know that already, sweetheart. Anyway, you must be out of the building ten minutes early to be on time for the meeting.” She sighed as she nodded her head.

“Continue with the rest..” I instructed and listened as she did.

“Well, you have a 3 o’clock and a 4 o’clock conference. Then you’ll be here until you finish reading the contracts just sent in this morning, along with last week’s reports from each floor. You also need to prepare for your father, who’s coming to visit you.”

“Is that all?”

“Well.. you also have a date with a certain someone at ten tomorrow morning since that’s the only time you’re free.”

I tilted my head. “I didn’t schedule anything for us.. did you want to get breakfast?”

She shook her head with a smile. “You have plans already.. with a little Miss Delilah.” I nodded as I clearly remembered her cute, devilish blue eyes staring me down the other day.

“You know I could ‘potentially’be lost if it weren’t for you,” I mentioned, sending her a wink as she sighed dramatically.

“Oh please, Killian. You would only lose your sanity because you have too many perfectionistic tendencies.”

“You know me too well, darling.” I smiled.

“You say that all the time.”

“But it’s the truth..” I sent her another sly wink, and she rolled her eyes again as she stood up.

“I’ll be in my office if you need me.”

“And I’ll be right here watching you.” She walked into her office, laughing, and took her seat at her desk. She looked down at her iPad, and after a few seconds, she pressed the intercom that was connected to mine.

“Stop being creepy, Killian.”I chuckled and pressed the button.

“I’ll try..”She looked over her shoulder and shot me a fake grin before returning to her computer. I turned back to my work and leaned back after a while as I couldn’t entirely focus. I was hoping to get some answers today about why Eugene acted the way he did. My only hope was that it all wouldn’t eventually backfire.

Walking out of the conference room filled with complete idiots, I sighed as I heard Brielle right behind me. Going inside my office, I strolled over to the edge of my desk and leaned against it as Brielle went into her office to grab her things. Afterward, she walked over to me, and I pulled her closer by the waist as it was already time for her to leave the building.

“If anyone does something to you, tell me,”I ordered, and she nodded. “Okay..”

“If any man so much as looks at you for the wrong reason, do not hesitate to tell me.”

“Alright.”

“I’m also sending your personal bodyguard over with you so you have maximum protection,” I rushed, attempting to slip the sentence in casually, though she understandably caught it.

“Excuse me, when have I ever had a personal bodyguard?”

“Since I decided that you going off on your own without George wouldn’t be the smartest idea..” She looked down at her watch and sighed.

“I’m not even going to ask any more questions because if I do, I’ll start to run late. I’ll see you later.” I leaned down and placed a small kiss on her lips.

“I’ll see you later, my darling.. and slight warning. I have granted Nathan access to interfere if something looks a bit suspicious..” She rolled her eyes and stepped away from me. My eyes watched her walk out of the room, though my view was ruined a few seconds later as I saw Blaine enter my office.

“You know you could be extremely brilliant if you weren’t such an idiot,” I remarked, and he smiled as he gave me a pat on the shoulder while walking over to my desk.
