“This is for my boys, Jett and Rock, you motherfuckin’ piece of shit. You molested them when they were children, and now you’re gonna meet the devil himself.”
Recognition flashes through his eyes for a brief moment as his eyes shift.
“Don’t fuckin’ look at them!” Cash head butts him so fuckn’ hard, I don’t know how the man won’t injure himself in the process. Salerno’s head flies back but Cash is quicker. He holds the gun to his head and pulls the trigger. No hesitation.
I turn away, the sight too gruesome even for me.
We all stand there, bodies strewn around us, everywhere we look.
I stare at the man as Cash lets the corpse slide down the car.
“Big Papa?” Tag pulls him to his feet. “You good?”
He pats himself down, his face frantic. “Holy fuck.”
“Yeah,” Tag grumbles.
“We were meant to kill Forger, not Salerno Caruso,” he says, rubbing his head.
His men are all dead.
I hope to God none of ours are.
Cash sees Priest bleeding. “Need to get outta here,” he says. “Call Crystal, get Casey over pronto.” Casey is Crystal’s sister and an EMT. She helps the club in times of trouble.
“Fuck,” I mutter, but Priest waves his hand.
“I’m gonna be okay,” he says. “Just a graze.”
“Whatever happens,” Cash says, breaths heavy, “it’s a drug deal gone wrong with Forger and Caruso.”
Jett meets my eye, and he looks as pale as I feel. I grip his shoulder. “It’s over now.”
He nods. “Over.”
“He can’t hurt us.” I grip my brother's neck and pull him to me. Our foreheads touch. “Nobody can.”
“I know. It’s just…a lot,” he whispers.
I let him go, ready to be gone before I throw up at this carnage.
“Go!” Cash orders. “Tag and Harlem will make sure nothin’ is here that can tie us to this, but we need to get out of here.”
I’m shaking. I take one long last look, and even though Priest is shot, he pulls me by my cut, Jett too, and we make our way to the van.
Tonight didn’t go as planned.
We killed the mafia underboss. Carlo Caruso’s brother.
But we were never here.
