I shake my head and swing my legs over the edge of the bed. “No. You and Blair are perfectly happy having your place with Noah. I appreciate you keeping me company, but didn’t we discuss a little space being good for us?”

When I wink, Atlas throws a pen at me, and then we’re both laughing as we go towards the door. I turn the lock once it closes behind us and startle to see Rascal standing there with a smile and a folder in his hands.

“You are a demon,” I say, crossing my arms. “And you only ever show up to annoy me. What do you want?”

Am I still a little salty knowing he played with Corvin the same way I did? That they used to fuck and are still friends? Just a bit.

The little fucker smiles even wider, takes out two papers from the folder and hands them to us.

“We finalized all the donations, and you’ll be happy to see that with these numbers the dorm will stay open for all the newbie queer kids next year.”

“Holy crap!” Atty and I exchange grins, and as I look over the paper, something catches my eye. “Hey, Rat, what’s this?”

Rascal rolls his eyes at the nickname but leans over to see where I’m pointing anyway. “Oh! That.”

That is a donation that doubled the amount we raised at the auction itself.

“It was anonymous.” He shrugs. “But the funds cleared last week, and Dean Rivers can suck it.”

I’m hit with the overwhelming urge to take the paper and run to Corvin’s room, congratulate him and maybe give him a blowjob because he fucking earned it—but then I remember that isn’t something we do anymore.

Maybe my face falls, or maybe Rascal just knows too much about our situation, because he gives me a sad smile and pat on the back.

“We really appreciate the two of you helping out.”

As he turns to walk away, I can’t help calling out, “I haven’t seen him.”

Rascal pauses, turns back and frowns. “I didn’t expect you to.” But then his confusion softens, and he shakes his head. “I don’t blame you for how things went down and neither does he.”

“He changed my room.”

Rascal scoffs, but he’s smiling now. “We couldn’t exactly let you stay there.”

“I know, but… I’m not even on the same floor.”

“We just figured you’d want an RA you’re familiar with.”

Now it’s my turn to frown. There are a lot of ‘we’s in those sentences.

“It’s just always been Corvin.”

He sighs and drags a hand through his auburn hair. “It’s kind of hard for him to be your RA when he isn’t even here.”

That puts a stop in every train of thought scrambling not to crash into each other. Scratch the damn record.

“What do you mean he isn’t even here?”

Rascal’s face pinkens, and his mouth parts in a tiny, “oh”. “You didn’t know.”

“Didn’t know…?” I look at Atlas but he shrugs, seeming just as confused.

“Corvin never came back. He missed the first couple of days and sent in a notice that we’d need to appoint a new RA. I figured he would have told you.”

Why would he after what happened?

“Did he tell you why?”

Rascal shakes his head. “Contrary to popular belief, we aren’t attached at the hip. We talk but not religiously. He said an emergency came up, and that he wasn’t sure when he’d be back.”
