“No, only my boyfriend can,” she shot back, winking at Raff.

“Oh, okay, I see you.” Raff laughed, shaking his head. “I’m more interested in Ellie, babes. So it’s all good.”

Jessica flickered her eyes over to me, but I avoided her gaze.

It was difficult, though, because her delicious emerald eyes commanded my fucking attention.

“Hi, Logan.” She smiled, and I nodded back at her dismissively.

“Where’s Carlisle tonight?”

My sister asked Jessica, taking her attention away from me.

I still stood there like a twat, so I went to the toilets, ignoring them.

I pissed, then caught sight of myself in the mirror. My pupils were like saucers, yet I looked miserable as fuck.

You really can’t buy happiness.

Chapter Five

JESSICA

“You’re drunk. Maybe we should get you home,” I repeated for the hundredth time as Ellie continued to ignore me, her hands in her hair as she danced on the table. Her skirt left nothing to the imagination, and the perverts were out in force.

After yetanothershitty argument with Carlisle, I found it hard to get drunk. Ellie, on the other hand, could barely string a sentence together. I was positively convinced that any minute now, she was going to topple down from that table and break her neck.

The music vibrated under my feet, the air thick with stale alcohol and sweat. I hated this scene, and being sober in this environment made me wonder how I previously claimed to have my best nights out here.

How? It’svile.

My feet stuck to the floor, and I stared back up at Ellie, who was loving life. She looked happy and carefree, but I knew it was me versus the six hungry perverts surrounding her.

“Shit,” I muttered, wondering who I could ask for help.

This was the problem with going out in a duo; you needed someone else to have your back at times like these.

Ellie dropped to her knees, throwing her head back as she pretended to rock out to Jon Bon Jovi.

It must’ve been near the end of the night if they were playing this song.

“Here you are,” a familiar voice drawled, and I turned to see Carlisle eyeing Ellie with amusement. “Whatisshe doing?”

“Carlisle,” I breathed with relief, aware of the perverts checking out his muscular build and the three gym heads behind him.

They’ve got names, but they’re just gym heads to me.

“I need to get her down.”

“Why is she behaving like that? Attracting attention from men like that?” Carlisle said, glaring at me.

“Well,I’mnot the one up there,” I huffed as Carlisle clenched his jaw.

“Ellie, what the fuck are you doing?” Carlisle called out as she stuck her fingers up at him. “She’s a mess, Jessica. You aren’t going to get her down.”

“I need to call her brother,” I desperately said as Carlisle raised his eyebrows.

“You have his number?”
