“No,” I said, pulling Ellie’s bag out from under my arm. “It will be in her phone.”

Carlisle then relaxed, sitting back on a stool, watching my friend’s free porn show. His friends were looking on too, but they got distracted by a group of blondes walking by. Luckily, so were a few of the perverts.

I scrolled through Ellie’s phone, not seeing Logan’s name anywhere. I exhaled with annoyance before scanning through her contacts again.

BELLEND.

Could that be him?

I chewed on my lip, pressing thecallbutton. Then, jamming my finger in my ear, I walked into a dark corner, waiting to see if I was right.

“What?” I was greeted with the annoyed tone of Logan Zander, and I couldn’t speak for a second. “Ellie? What do you want?”

Despite his words, an air of concern hid beneath his annoyance.

“Logan, it’s Jess.”

There was a pause before Logan spoke in a bored tone.

“Who?”

“Your sister’s friend. Look, she’s really drunk and dancing on tables….”

“And?”

His cold response shocked me.

Irritation zipped through me as I pursed my lips.

“And there are currently six guys staring up her skirt, just waiting to take advantage. I can’t get her down, and she’s too drunk.”

“Are you on your own? He sighed, mumbling to someone in the background.

“Um, yeah. My boyfriend is here, but she hates him—”

“And you thoughtI’dcare more?” Logan laughed bitterly, and I felt a surge of resentment towards him.

“She’s yoursister, asshole. We’re in Palais, top floor. The club closes soon, and I’m worried. So I’ll leave it with you.”

I hung up, curling my lip up with distaste.

How could someone be so cold about their own family? What kind of brother doesn’t give a shit about his sister being vulnerable?

God.

A text beeped in my hand, and I looked down with surprise to see a text on Ellie’s phone.

RAFF

Hey Jess, I’m in Palais. I’ll come up now.

“Oh!” I said with relief, immediately scanning the surrounding area. Ellie was slow dancing with two of the guys, and I gritted my teeth at Carlisle, who was utterly oblivious.

Storming over, I attempted to pull the men from my friend, and one of them leered at me.

“Join in, sweetheart,” he rasped, and I stepped back, glancing at Carlisle, who was watching me intently.

“Can youhelp me?!”I hissed, trying to pull Ellie towards me. “Carlisle—”
