Jason: I fucked up

Mel: Please stop texting me.

Mel: Don’t call me that. You don’t get to call me that. Only my dad.

Jason: Mel, please. I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to hurt you

Mel: So you accidentally found yourself in a new relationship while you were with me? Did you forget?

Jason: I was bamboozled! I never would have done that!

Mel: Jason, it’s not going to happen.

Jason: Please babe. I miss you

Jason: I love you

Jason: I’m lost without you!

Mel: No, you just think you do. Did you run out of places to stay with all the couch you took when you moved out?!

Jason: How can you say that?!!

Mel: Because after three years you still don’t know me.

Jason: C’mon babe. I need you.

Mel: I don’t need you.

Jason: The fuck you don’t!!

Mel: This conversation has come to an end.

“Oh for fu-orks sake,” Melody huffed, correcting herself, mindful of the toddler just out of arm's reach. “Why can’t Jason get the hint,” she said, rolling her eyes toward the sky. She joined Julia at the other end of the table, showing the newest thread of begging texts. “The photo Noah took with me as a joke that I had a new boyfriend didn’t even deter him from his bullshirt.”

“Bullshit,” Julia corrected her. Her face scrunched in annoyance that they were still dealing with Melody’s drama from the past.

“Yeah, that but uncensored. He keeps calling and texting on different numbers.” He was a rash that wouldn’t go away and in hindsight she knew she should have called it quits a long time ago.

“Oh, you're adorable when you spend the day with the kids. But not talking like a sailor around them won’t help Jason get the hint.”

“I’m trying, I am woefully out of practice and I’m hoping they need me next quarter for classes.” Mel stabbed the cherry in her glass with her straw, the red juice swirled in her clear soda. “I don’t think this body model gig is my thing anymore.”

“You were killing it the other night.”

“Yeah, it was a show stopper alright,” Mel scoffed, extending her arm to show Julia the scratches that were still visible four days after the incident with Master Isaiah. “Till someone nearly killed me.”

“Unfortunate accident?”

“That should be my tagline. I’m a nearly twenty-nine-year-old who has had only bad sexual experiences. Several of them in fact.”

“You’re never too old for new ones.”

Melody huffed a laugh. “Yeah, what are you offering? I love you, but you're not my type."

“Oh, don't I know that? If I so much as thought about laying a finger on you I'm sure Mister Wes would be more than happy to delete me from the universe.”

“Oh, you’re crazy. He doesn’t see me like that.” She brushed her friend off, evading telling her what happened during their last session.
