“Sure,” I said a little too quickly. Moving my chair away from the table, I pushed my dress back down and stood. Kipp grasped my hand and led me to the dance floor. The music changed and of course it was a slow love song. We were pressed up against one another, and every nerve ending in my body was on edge. I felt like I was on fire every place he touched me. “You do know this will set the town gossips tongues ablaze right?” I said as he lowered his hand on my back.

“If you’re okay with them talking, I don’t care one bit.” He held me tightly against him and we swayed around the floor. Glancing over my shoulder, Kristin was giving me a thumbs up. She wrapped her arm around Linc and kissed him. After she was done, she arched her brow as a challenge. I wasn’t one to back down from a dare. Moving my hand to the back of Kipp’s neck, I pulled his head toward me. Our lips met passionately and he held onto me tighter. Pulling away, I grinned at him. “I don’t care what they say.” He laughed and kissed me quickly again. When he pulled away, I noticed that almost every eye in the room was on us and Kristin was clapping and grinning like a crazy woman.

When the song was over, we walked back to the table. “I’ll go get you another drink, since you seem thirsty,” Kipp ribbed as he pulled my chair out for me. I tilted my head slightly and watched him walk away.

“You and every woman in this bar are watching the same rear end,” Griffin speculated, leaning across the table.

“Griff, I wasn’t.”

“Yes, you were. Trust me when I say, this is good. You’ve got him off our backs and he’s way less grumpy.” Griff took a drink of his beer and leaned back in his chair.

“He’s right, you know.” This time it was Ryder. Turning to look at him, I was surprised he even noticed with the blonde straddling his lap. “It’s been too long since Kipp let anyone in.” Ryder looked back at the woman on his lap and smiled. “It’s time for us to get out of here.” He slapped her on the ass and without so much as a goodbye they were gone.

Kipp returned from the bar with two beers for me and water for himself. “I think I told you I don’t handle booze well and you do this?” I asked, holding up the two glasses.

“That’s my plan, baby.” He grinned and winked at me.

“Where’s Nash?” He looked around and realized his best friend wasn’t among the group. He turned and searched at the opposite end of the bar. I followed where his eyes went and saw Nash sitting next to an older man in deep conversation. Kipp sat down and leaned close to me. “That’s his dad.” I looked from the two men at the bar to Kipp.

“Fred is Nash’s dad?” I sputtered. Kipp just nodded as he took a sip of his drink.

“Nash’s mom left him a couple years ago and his dad’s struggling pretty bad. So, when his dad ends up in here on a night Nash is he makes sure to keep an eye on him.” Kipp turned and checked on his friend once more before looking back at me.

“Does Fred come to the ranch often?” I asked, resting my chin on my hand.

“Not often.”

“Maybe you should tell Nash to bring him around now that you have a cook that can make edible food.” I grinned and took another sip of my beer. “But first, we should dance again.”

“I think we need to go home,” he whispered in my ear as he snaked his hand around my waist, lingering just below my stomach.

“We just got here, one more dance?” I asked, batting my eyes and smiling sweetly.

“One more standing, then I’m going to dance you horizontally for the rest of the night.” Kissing my neck, he pulled me off the chair and we strolled to the dance floor hand in hand.

Dancing perfectly in sync, we two stepped our way closer to the door and I pulled him toward it. “I changed my mind, let’s go home.” We ran out of the bar, straight to his truck.

He got in after he’d been a total gentleman opening my door. I reached for my seatbelt and I heard him make a noise. “You sit in the middle tonight.” I slid over and did up my belt as he pulled away from the parking lot. One hand on the wheel, the other around my shoulder, toying with the thin strap of my dress, the tips of his fingers brushed along my skin.

The drive home felt like it was taking hours. Just as I was about to sigh, Kipp pulled over and into a field. “Get out.” He opened his door and reached for something in the back seat.

“It’s pitch black out, what are you doing?” I felt, and heard, the tailgate drop and my door opened. Kipp reached in and waited for me to take his hand. “You’re going to murder me. This is when it happens, you woo me, make me swoon, and bam murder. At least you were good in bed.”

“Nora, shut up, no more true crime. I’m not going to murder you. I need you now, baby. I can’t wait until we get home.” He spread the blanket down on the bed of the truck and I shook my head.

How in the world had I gotten this lucky? I pressed my palm to his cheek and moved closer to him. Kissing him, I slid my tongue into his mouth and pressed it against his. The warm breeze blew across the prairie and I deepened our kiss. Pulling away, I unbuttoned my dress and let it fall off my body. He inhaled sharply and I reached behind me, unhooking my bra and letting it drop into the pile of clothes. “God, you’re beautiful,” Kipp groaned as he pulled me down onto him. He let his hands roam my body and I wanted my bare skin pressed against his. I didn’t have to ask or wait, he ripped open his shirt and got it off without moving me. I let my hands trail down his abdomen and popped open his belt buckle, flicked open the button, and unzipped his jeans. They’d hugged his ass and thighs temptingly and, while I liked seeing him in them, I wanted him out of them more.

He kicked off his boots and slid his pants off. His body was warm and I was sure even if it was the middle of winter he would have kept me warm. “I think I need you under me tonight,” he said as he dipped his fingers between my thighs. He rolled me over and nudged my legs open. “I’ve waited for this all day.” I could see his grin in the low light that surrounded us. He wrapped his hand around his shaft and pumped it a few times. Leaning over me, he rubbed it along my soaked entrance. He pressed into me and it made a breath catch in my throat. “Are you ready?”

“Yes,” I panted. Slowly, he pulled out and plummeted back into me. Kipp reached for my breast and lightly flicked my nipple. It sent a zing cascading through me and I bucked against him. Stopping, he bent over and sucked the perky bud. Tracing his tongue around it before nipping at it, I clawed at his back.

He pushed into me over and over again, and the tension was building deep in my core. I met each thrust with a need that was unlike anything I’d felt before. My orgasm ripped through me like thousands of stampeding cattle. “Kipp!” I screamed into the night as I convulsed around him. He kept pounding into me and another wave built before I’d finished the first one. “Oh God, oh God,” I cried, wrapping my arms and legs around him. He picked up his pace and stiffened as a third orgasm ripped through my body. This was different, tonight was pure unabashed need and desire. I’d never needed anyone, but the way I craved Kipp was all-encompassing, scary and wonderful all at the same time.

“Nora!” he cried as he spasmed and emptied into me. Collapsing over me, we laid there, limbs entwined, breathing slowly, as our bodies began to cool off in the night air. Kipp dragged his fingers up and down my side and hip. It was something he did after every time we’d been together this weekend. The frogs croaked from the pond, coyotes barked off in the distance, and the cows moo’d for their babies. This was more perfect than anything I could have dreamed of. Looking up at the sky, I saw a shooting star streak above. I closed my eyes and made a wish.

“What did you wish for?” His quiet question made me smile.

“I can’t tell you, if I do it won’t come true.” Sliding over closer to him, I draped my leg over his.
