“Kristin, I don’t want to.” I shook my head.
“Yes you do, it’s written all over your face.”
“Fine, yes we did. Kipp’s mom has Cooper, so yesterday we went for a ride.”
“I bet you did,” she teased, hopping up on the counter, crossing her arms and staring me down. “Keep going.”
“We went out to the meadow and had a picnic and then well, we…” I let my voice trail off, she didn’t need to know all the details.
“So, you’re telling me it’s just the two of you in that big house all alone and you’ve only done it in the meadow? Look, I know you’ve been lonely for over four years.”
“I didn’t say the only place was the meadow, that was just the first place.” Why didn’t they have chairs in bathrooms? How were people supposed to talk in here? “It’s been an amazing twenty-four hours.” I knew I was grinning like a fool, but I couldn't help it.
“Okay, I’ve always wondered…”
“Yes, big.” I didn’t let her finish, I just answered the question I knew she would ask. She hopped off the counter and hugged me.
“I’m so happy for you.” There was a knock on the door. “Hang on!” Kristin yelled.
“We better get out of here before there’s a riot.” I unlocked the door and we walked out into a hallway of angry women. “Are you going to tell me about you and Linc?”
“He’s my on and off.” She shrugged.
“Is he the one you were all sad about at the coffee shop that day?” I asked, pulling her to a stop before we got out of the hallway.
“Yeah, but he’s back.” She leaned in closer and whispered, “He’s a good fuck.”
“Kristin. He’s my boss.” I covered my ears, closed my eyes, and shook my head. She laughed and put her arm around me.
She pulled my hands away from my ears and I opened my eyes. “Babe, you’re fucking your boss too.” She turned to walk back to the table and I stood glued to the floor. “Stop thinking and get back out here. You’re having fun, you’re young, go with it.” She grabbed my arm and dragged me back to the table.
“I wondered where you went,” Kipp said when I sat back down.
“Had to powder our noses.” I smiled. Kipp arched his brow and shook his head.
“Powder your nose?” I nodded, reaching for my drink. “Is that code for discussing our sex life?” I took a breath as I swallowed the beer and choked. Coughing, I grabbed the napkin to wipe my face. “Yep, I knew it, you don’t even have to say anything.” I looked up at him, and his eyes danced with laughter.
“I didn’t realize we had a sex life,” I whispered.
“Well, then, I suppose I need to do a better job of showing you.” He moved his hand to my thigh and slid it between my legs.
“Kipp,” I gasped as I clamped my hand down on his. “We’re in a bar.”
“Haven’t you ever wanted to be a little adventurous, Nora?”
“Voyeurism has never been my thing and you, Mr. Miller, are crazy!”
“Have you ever tried?”
“You know I haven’t,” I huffed, avoiding his gaze. Reaching for my beer, I slammed it back. Maybe a little liquid courage would help me get through this date. This wasn’t the direction I imagined the night going when I agreed to go out. But there I was, sitting with Kipp’s hand between my legs, millimeters from my center, wishing I was a little bolder. It would only take a minimal amount of shifting for him to be touching me exactly where I ached for him. Closing my eyes, I took a deep breath and moved my legs apart. Kipp tightened his grip on my thigh and growled before moving his hand to touch me.
“Nora, did you forget your panties tonight?” he asked so quietly nobody else heard him speak.
“No, I didn’t forget anything.” A warm buzz had washed over me and it wasn’t from Kipp’s fingers. My beer was hitting and I was ready to be a little daring. Turning to look at him, I smiled sweetly.
“Don’t smile at me like that, there’s nothing sweet about you, you're a vixen. You kept yourself hidden, but now I see what you really are.” He pushed a finger into me, pumped it a few times, and then withdrew it. I almost lost it right there in the middle of that busy bar.
“Dance with me?” he murmured as he licked his finger and took a pull of his beer.
